A punch to the gut, right from the start

From the very first seconds of “Kubrick Stare”, you know this album isn’t about to let go. Will Putney’s production (as usual, razor sharp), guitars snapping like a whip, drums hitting with surgical precision, and then Drew Dijorio’s voice, as tense as ever, walking the line between a scream of rage and a call to wake up.

L’uppercut d’entrée

Dès les premières secondes de “Kubrick Stare“, on sent que cet album ne va rien lâcher. La prod signée Will Putney (comme d’hab, le son est chirurgical), les guitares qui claquent comme des coups de ceinture, la batterie qui tabasse avec précision… Et puis la voix de Drew Dijorio, toujours aussi tendue, toujours sur le fil, entre le cri de colère et l’appel au réveil.

An end-of-the-world album, but not without hope

Clockworked was born in a broken world, and you can feel it. The album oozes frustration and urgency, but it keeps a cool head. The lyrics are more clear-eyed than ever. When Florent Salfati of Landmvrks or Jeff Moreira of Poison the Well step in, it’s not about prestige features, it’s just friends screaming alongside you.

It’s not every day that a band of this caliber bows out with an album this solid. No teary nostalgia, no attempt to recreate “old Stray From The Path.” Just them, here and now, still angry, still sharp, and fully true to who they are.

Un disque de fin du monde… mais pas sans espoir

Clockworked a été enregistré dans un monde en vrac, et ça s’entend. L’album transpire le ras-le-bol, l’urgence, mais il garde la tête froide. Les textes sont plus lucides que jamais. Quand Florent Salfati  de Landmvrks ou Jeff Moreira de Poison the Well viennent poser leurs voix et ce n’est pas un featuring de prestige : c’est juste des potes qui crient avec toi.

Ce n’est pas tous les jours qu’un groupe de cette trempe tire sa révérence sur un album aussi cohérent. Pas de nostalgie larmoyante, pas de tentative de refaire “le Stray From The Path d’avant”. Juste eux, aujourd’hui, encore en colère, encore brillants, et totalement fidèles à ce qu’ils sont.

Incredible. It’s simple. Stray From The Path have been hitting hard for over twenty years, and the formula still works. Every riff, every scream, every break lands exactly where it should. Nothing to skip. Clockworked is a perfect album, uncompromising, relentless, and tight to the last breath. And when a band delivers something like this at the end of their journey, it’s more than just a record, it’s a lesson.

Incroyable. C’est simple : ça fait plus de vingt ans que Stray From The Path frappe fort, et on sent que la recette marche toujours. Chaque riff, chaque cri, chaque break est à sa place. Rien à jeter. Clockworked est un album parfait, sans compromis ni baisse de régime. Et quand un groupe réussit à sortir ça en fin de parcours, c’est plus qu’un album : c’est une leçon.
