On April 25, British rock up-and-comer Yungblud dropped his second single, locking in the sound and vibe of his upcoming album Idols.

Le 25 avril dernier, le jeune rockeur britannique Yungblud a sorti un deuxième single gravant dans le marbre le style de son album Idols à venir.

After dropping “Hello Heaven, Hello,” which already hinted at a major musical shift, Yungblud is back and louder than ever with “Lovesick Lullaby.” Just as gripping and hard-hitting as its predecessor, the track might feel almost too short at just 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sure, that’s a normal song length, but not when you’ve just gotten used to a nine-minute sonic trip like the last single. “Lovesick Lullaby” may be brief, but it packs a punch and pulls you right in. Once again, the track is loaded with nods to British rock history, echoing legends like The Ramones, The Smiths, Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols, and The Beatles.

Unlike the more emotional and introspective “Hello Heaven, Hello,” this new single is an all-out surge of raw energy, madness, and chaos, in the best way possible. Every second builds the hype, fueling the frenzy. The chorus is a wild, euphoric storm that totally matches Yungblud’s off-the-wall persona. If you’ve ever seen him live, you can practically picture him bouncing across the stage as the song plays. The lyrics keep pace with the nonstop rhythm and match its electric feel: “’Cause I, I wanna feel good emotions in this lovesick lullaby.“

Après la sortie de “Hello Heaven, Hello” qui annonçait déjà un tournant musical, Yungblud revient en force avec “Lovesick Lullaby“. Ce single, tout aussi prenant et puissant que son prédécesseur, serait presque frustrant avec une durée de 2 minutes 55. Normal pour une chanson me direz-vous… mais pas quand on s’est finalement acclimaté aux 9 minutes du dernier single. “Lovesick Lullaby” est certes court mais reste percutant, entraînant. Encore une fois, le titre est truffé de références à la musique rock et à la culture britannique. Ici les sonorités font toujours écho aux grands de l’histoire tels que The Ramones, The Smiths, Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols ou encore The Beatles. Enfin, pour trancher avec “Hello Heaven, Hello”, ce single laisse la sensibilité et l’émotion afin de nous emporter dans un raz-de-marée d’énergie brute, de folie et d’explosion de frénésie. Chaque seconde passante faisant monter l’ambiance et l’exaltation. Le refrain reste une joyeuse tempête de surexcitation. Cela reflète bien le personnage qu’est Yungblud. Si vous l’avez déjà vu sur scène, en écoutant “Lovesick Lullaby” vous ne pouvez que vous l’imaginer en train de sauter aux quatre coins de la scène. Les paroles de ce morceau ne font que suivre le rythme incessant du titre et font écho à cette énergie : “Cause I, I wanna feel good emotions in this lovesick lullaby” (parce que je veux ressentir de bonnes émotions dans cette berceuse en mal d’amour).

The music video for “Lovesick Lullaby” is just as packed with British cultural references as the track itself. It kicks off with an old-school amp cranked all the way up, a vinyl record spinning, and a clock speeding through time. Yungblud lounges in a chair, vibing to the beat, beer in hand, it’s a full-on ego moment. The whole scene is actually a clever nod to a 1983 British commercial for Maxell cassette tapes. A big wink to classic UK music culture.

The visuals also channel heavy ’90s energy, with a living room setup that feels straight out of Oasis’s Definitely Maybe era. The static shots roll out like a series of vintage ads, think Burberry meets Britpop. Then suddenly, we’re flipping out of our seats (literally) with Yungblud as he pops through the sunroof of a moving Mini Cooper, dodging a pigeon mid-chaos. All of this wildness is for one mission: a beer run that lands him in a pub. But not just any pub, his favorite spot in Camden, London.

It’s wild, it’s cheeky, and it screams Yungblud. The whole thing feels raw, real, and totally on-brand.

Le clip de “Lovesick Lullaby” quant à lui, nous berce également de références visuelles qui font tout aussi écho à la culture britannique que le titre. Le clip s’ouvre avec le volume d’un vieil ampli monté au maximum, un vinyle, une platine. Une horloge qui fait avancer le temps à une vitesse folle. Un ego boosté, Yungblud assis sur un fauteuil, à s’ambiancer au rythme du single. Une bière à côté de lui pose les bases. Ce plan est en réalité une référence à une publicité britannique datant de 1983 pour la marque de K7 audio “Maxell”. Énorme clin d’œil à la culture britannique et musicale donc. L’ambiance est également une inspiration des années 1990 et à Oasis avec un intérieur qui peut faire écho à “Definitely Maybe” (1994). Les plans fixes s’enchaînent et laissent penser à des publicités également (Burberry). Pour ensuite tomber à la renverse de notre fauteuil avec Yungblud et le retrouver à deux doigts de se prendre un pigeon alors qu’il est sorti par le toit ouvrant d’une Mini Cooper qui roule. Tout cela pour une course à la bière qui nous conduit droit dans un pub. Pas n’importe quel pub cependant, le pub favori de Yungblud à Camden, Londres. Une ambiance déjantée qui nous rappelle juste encore une fois qui est Yungblud. Le tout est cohérent, sincère, brut.

Yungblud also officially announced his fourth studio album, titled Idols, a name that already hints at the flood of cultural references packed inside. The album will be released in two parts: the first dropping on June 20, and the second coming this October.

And because good news never comes alone, Yungblud also revealed two upcoming shows in France this fall. He’ll hit the stage at Paris’s Adidas Arena on October 8, then head to the Zénith in Nantes on October 9.

Yungblud a également officiellement annoncé qu’il va sortir un nouvel album, son quatrième, et qu’il sera nommé “Idols“. Cela fait déjà écho aux nombreuses références qui seront présentes. L’album sera divisé en deux parties, la première va sortir le 20 juin et la seconde suivra en octobre.

Comme une bonne nouvelle n’arrive jamais seule : Yungblud a dans la foulée annoncé deux concerts en France pour octobre prochain. Il sera donc le 8 octobre à l’Adidas Arena de Paris puis, le lendemain, au Zénith de Nantes.
