“I Just Want to Be a Sound”, more than just a title, it’s a promise Kadavar makes with this new record.
With a fresh guitarist joining the ranks, the Berlin-based quartet delivers a richly varied album that steps outside their usual boundaries.

The opening track, “I Just Want to Be a Sound”, kicks things off with a light, breezy tone that brings to mind a certain classic by The Who, whether it’s an homage or just a wink, it hits the mark and put a big grin on my face right from the start. The sound is tight and well-balanced, giving plenty of room for the vocals and guitar to shine, instantly transporting you back to the golden days of the ’70s.

S’armant d’un nouveau membre à la guitare , le quator  berlinois nous livre ici une copie pleine d’influence variées s’éloignant  de ces standards habituels.

« I just want to be a sound» démarre donc l’album sur un thème léger rappelant un certain morceau des Who , hommage ou clin d’œil , dans les deux cas c’est une franche réussite qui m’as mis la banane à la première écoute . un son bien travaillé et très équilibré laissant la belle part du gateau au chant et à la guitare nous renvoyer tout droit des les années 70 .

“Hysteria” marks a shift in tone, here comes the fuzz. Heavy, slow riffs roll in, layered with some trippy, psych-tinged licks. We’re back in stoner rock territory: fatter, louder, but not just that.

“Regeneration” brings a tight drum groove and a more noticeable keyboard presence than in previous tracks. The fuzz lingers, but overall, the track feels like a warm-up for what’s next, decent, but it didn’t leave a strong mark on me.

“Let Me Be a Shadow” is an unexpected turn, deeply atmospheric and steeped in melancholy. This track has all the right ingredients to pull you in like it did me: simple loops, a slightly bluesy (but not too much) bass and keyboard combo, and a guitar that steps in with tasteful licks at just the right moments. It creates such a personal vibe, you feel like the song’s speaking straight to you.

“Sunday Morning” continues that melancholic, haunting atmosphere. It’s beautifully crafted, nothing feels out of place, and you’re happy to just drift along with it. There are even some surprising chord changes along the way that keep things fresh.

“Scar on My Guitar” flips the switch completely. The gloom makes way for rebellion — a raw, punk-driven energy takes over. It’s punchy, infectious, and steers the album in yet another new direction.

“Truth”, a real oddball, in the best way. It’s packed with ‘70s vibes, but not the kind you’d typically mix together. Kadavar dares to blend influences that seem like they’d clash, but somehow, they make it work. The chorus is a total earworm, and the track throws in rhythm shifts and drum breaks that practically reinvent the song halfway through. It feels like the track is searching for its identity, and yet, they’ve clearly hit on something unique and effective.

“Until the End” closes the album by weaving together its many musical threads. Emotions overlap, moods shift, and even with the constant changes, the result feels as intriguing as it is original.

« Hystéria » signe un changement de theme ,place à la fuzz , on y retrouve des riffs lourds , lents , quelque licks de guitare assez psyché , retour donc dans un rock plutôt stoner plus gras, plus puissant mais pas que .

« Regeneration »  un super groove à la batterie  , un clavier plus présent que sur les derniers morceaux , toujours une légère fuzz , l’ensemble est plutôt bon mais ne m’as marqué plus que ça, comme si ce morceau était la pour préparer la suite.

« Let me be a shadow »  une suite innatendue pleine de mélancolie très atmosphérique , ce morceau à tout ce qu’il faut pour vous transporter comme il l’as fais pour moi , des  loops simple ,  une basse et un clavier assez bluesie mais pas trop et une guitare appuyant les moments fort juste comme il faut avec ces petits licks fort sympa , le tout créant alors un univers si singulier qu’on à l’impression que le morceaux s’adresse directement a vous .

« Sunday Morning » on continue sur une  atmosphere mélancolique et envoutante , rien à dire , tout cela sonne bien , on ce laisse volontiers embarqué dans cet univers et le morceau  nous resèrves de belle surprise par moments avec une progression d’accord qui sort de l’ordinaire .

« Scar on my guitar » Changement d’ambiance  , après la mélancolie place à un esprit de rebellion, un son très punk , entrainnant signant un  nouveau virage dans cette album décidemment plein de surprise .

« Truth » un véritable ovni ? encore plein d’influence 70 , mais des influences que nous n’aurions peut être pas osé mettre ensemble et pourtant kadavar l’as fait et le résultat est plutôt bluffant , un refrain très entrainants , des changements de rythme en veux tu en voila, des breacks de batterie changeant jusqu’à l’identités du morceau , on à l’impression que ce dernier ce cherche alors qu’il ont trouvé pourtant une recette assez singulière mais plutôt efficace !

« Until the End »  une conclusion qui réuni les différentes visions musical de l’album , plusieurs émotion ce chevauche et  malgré ces changements d’ambiance j’ai trouvé le résultats aussi intriguant qu’original .

I Just Want to Be a Sound might mark a turning point for the band, offering a bold new formula where different styles and sonic worlds collide.
It can feel a bit disorienting at times, there’s definitely a sense of looseness in the cohesion, but it’s a fun ride all the same, full of unexpected turns and satisfying surprises.

I just want to be a sound  marque peut être un changement de direction pour le groupe qui nous offre ici une formule très variés ou ce côtoie différents style et univers .

Bien que cela puisse être déstabilisants car on pourrait y trouver un manque de cohérence l’ensemble reste super sympa à écouter et ne manque pas de nous surprendre .
