That’s when I first stumbled upon Back Burner by For The Fallen Dreams, thanks to one track that’s been stuck in my head ever since: The Big Empty. Fourteen years later, I still feel that same rush every time I hit play. It’s pure emotion and sheer power packed into one song.

It was more accessible than Changes (2008) and Relentless (2009), but it never lost what made FTFD so impactful, breakdowns that hit like a sledgehammer, razor-sharp guitar leads, and, above all, that raw, heart-on-sleeve vocal delivery that swings between fury and despair.

L’album, sorti chez Rise Records, marquait un tournant pour le groupe. Plus accessible que Changes (2008) et Relentless (2009), il n’en restait pas moins un condensé de ce qui faisait la force de FTFD : des breaks lourds comme un coup de massue, des leads de guitare ciselés, et surtout cette voix à fleur de peau qui oscille entre fureur et désespoir.

Tracks like Let Go and Complicate the Situation hit with precision, their sharp riffs backed by an airtight rhythm section. Meanwhile, Bottom Feeders and My Anthem Like Symphony lean into a more dynamic contrast, where melodies weave through the chaos without ever watering down the intensity.

And then, of course, there’s The Big Empty. This track embodies everything I love about this scene, constant tension, unfiltered sincerity, and that final breakdown that makes you want to lose it in the pit.
