“Stained Soul” is a track fueled by rage, blame, and hatred. The main character wrestles not with another person, but with an inner demon, a dark entity pushing them toward bad decisions. At its core, it’s about rejection, mostly self-rejection. A monologue turned inwards, where the protagonist is slowly consumed by their own shadow.

The music video captures this tension perfectly. A thick, black, oozing substance gradually engulfs the character’s body, like it’s snuffing out whatever light is left inside. Shot entirely in black and white, the clip has a subtle Hitchcock vibe.

Fear runs like a hidden thread through the song, the fear of facing something terrifying and the quiet resignation of being overtaken by it.
“My soul is stained forever.”

“Stained Soul” dives into the fight against addiction and the suffering it brings, but its meaning goes even deeper. It explores mental battles and toxic patterns we often create for ourselves, making it feel uncomfortably relatable.

Musically, the track starts slow and brooding, then erupts into the raw energy of hardcore punk. It draws heavily from metal, blending in elements of sludge and crust.

“Stained Soul” hits hard, both in sound and message. It’s intense, honest, and haunting. And the video is just as impactful. This is only SPLIT’s third single, but it already lands like a knockout punch.

Stained Soul c’est un morceau plein de rage, de reproches, de haine. Le protagoniste se débat contre une tierce personne… ou plutôt une entité. Un démon intérieur qui lui fait prendre de mauvaises décisions. Il est question du rejet des autres mais surtout du rejet de soi. Un monologue contre lui-même, il se fait submerger par sa part d’ombre.

Le clip traduit parfaitement cette tension. Une matière noire et visqueuse envahit petit à petit le corps du personnage, comme pour étouffer sa part de lumière. Un clip par ailleurs tout en noir et blanc avec un petit côté Hitchcock.

Parce que oui on retrouve la peur en fil rouge discret de ce morceau. L’acceptation d’une chose terrifiante, la résignation de s’être fait submerger par celle-ci. 

“My soul is stained forever”

Stained Soul évoque en réalité la lutte contre les addictions et toutes les souffrances qu’elle engendre, mais résonne bien au-delà. Il parle de tous ces combats mentaux, de ces emprises toxiques dont nous serions nous-mêmes à l’origine, ce qui le rend aussi très accessible.

Côté mélodique, le morceau s’installe doucement avant de laisser place à la puissance d’un morceau punk hardcore. Ils empruntent largement de nombreux codes du métal, offrant ainsi un morceau flirtant avec le sludge et le crust.

Stained Soul est un morceau puissant tant par sa musique que par son message. C’est un morceau qui parle. Son clip est tout aussi réussi. C’est seulement le troisième single du groupe et il frappe déjà très fort.
