Some EPs just crash in outta nowhere and wreck everything in their path. That’s exactly what LUZER did. They’re a punk band straight outta Mexico City, recently signed to Hopeless Records, and they’re here to light it up with their debut EP: “La insoportable incrospidez del ser.”

The name’s impossible to pronounce, but the sound? Absolutely unstoppable.

It’s a backyard mess: homies slouched on the grass, beers everywhere, punk gear on point, a random sheet with “LUZER” spray-painted all janky, and some dude rapping into a broom. If that’s not peak DIY punk energy, I don’t know what is. It’s screaming “we made this at home with our friends and it slaps, deal with it.”

Il y a des EPs qui débarquent sans prévenir et qui retournent tout sur leur passage. LUZER, c’est un groupe de punk mexicain originaire de Mexico City, signé chez Hopeless Records, et ils viennent clairement mettre le feu avec leur tout premier EP : “La insoportable incrospidez del ser”.

Le nom est imprononçable, le son est imparable.

Un jardin en bordel, des potes avachis, des bières, des fringues punk à mort, un drap où “LUZER” est tagué à l’arrache, un mec qui rappe dans un balai, si ça, c’est pas l’essence même du DIY punk, je sais pas ce que c’est. Ça transpire l’attitude “on fait ça chez nous, entre potes, et on s’en fout tant que ça tape fort”.

1. Insoportable (mejor me echo una chela)
You know when a track kicks in and you instantly wanna jump? Yeah. That. This thing grabs you in the first two seconds and suddenly you’re throwing yourself into an imaginary mosh pit in your living room. That intro sticks, the vocals are punchy without being too screamy, and it’s insanely catchy. And yea, better crack open a cold chela if you’re not ready.

2. Perdón x no ir a tu cumple 🙁
A MINUTE AND A HALF OF PURE MAYHEM. No build-up, no let-up, no filler. Just a flash banger, an adrenaline shot. 100% a throwback to the early-2000s pop punk era when songs were short, fast, and furious. You’ll hit repeat three times without even realizing it.

3. Sentirte Aquí
Tone shift here: we dive into feels without dropping the energy. The riffs have that sweet-and-salty high school vibe, the choruses hit you right in the chest (in a good way), and the vocals layer perfectly. It’s all about real-life messiness, nostalgia, and those kinda relationships that hurt in the best way. A little gem.

4. Suficiente
This one’s got big Four Year Strong and Neck Deep energy! The vocal duets are super tight, the influences are there but never cliché. You hear the Mexican roots in the rhythm and the nod to American classics too. It’s fun, polished, and totally cohesive.

5. Confundido
Your heart’s gonna explode. This song makes you wanna jump like you’re 14 again, with a fake mohawk and ripped Vans. It’s wild, euphoric, and so freeing. Hands down my favorite on the EP. I played it three times in a row while jumping on my bed like a kid.

1. Insoportable (mejor me echo una chela)
Tu sais quand une chanson démarre et que t’as direct envie de sauter ? Bah voilà. C’est ça. Ce morceau te happe en deux secondes, t’as déjà envie de te jeter dans un pit imaginaire dans ton salon. L’intro reste en tête, le chant est nerveux sans être criard, c’est ultra catchy. Et ouais, mieux vaut se prendre une chela si t’es pas prêt.

2. Perdón x no ir a tu cumple 🙁
UNE MINUTE TRENTE DE FOLIE PURE. Pas de chichi, pas d’intro, pas de baisse de tension. C’est un banger flash, un shot d’adrénaline. Clairement un hommage aux morceaux ultra courts et énervés de l’âge d’or du pop punk. Tu le relances trois fois d’affilée sans t’en rendre compte.

3. Sentirte Aquí
Là, changement d’ambiance : on plonge dans l’émotion sans lâcher l’énergie. Les riffs ont ce petit goût sucré-salé des années lycée, les refrains font mal au cœur (dans le bon sens), et les voix s’entrelacent super bien. Ça sent le vécu, la nostalgie, les relations qui piquent. Un vrai bijou.

4. Suficiente
Grosse vibe Four Year Strong et Neck Deep ici ! Le duo vocal est parfaitement dosé, les influences sont là mais jamais clichés. Tu sens les racines mexicaines dans les accents rythmiques, mais aussi le gros clin d’œil aux classiques américains. C’est fun, bien foutu, et super cohérent.

5. Confundido
Ton cœur va exploser. Cette chanson t’oblige à sauter comme si t’avais 14 ans, une fausse crête sur la tête et des Vans trouées. C’est spontané, euphorique, libérateur. Mon gros coup de cœur de l’EP. Je l’ai écouté trois fois d’affilée sans bouger de mon lit, enfin si, en sautant dessus comme une gosse.

This band came together in Mexico City like something out of a coming-of-age movie: they met at house parties, hit it off, and boom, magic. The singer and drummer even realized they went to the same music school. Their sound blends deep Mexican roots with a massive love for the 2000s pop punk scene. All served up with raw honesty, joyful chaos, and real passion.

The verdict:

LUZER absolutely crushed it with this debut EP. It’s real, explosive, fun as hell, and super well produced without losing that DIY soul. They’re carving out a serious spot in the Latin pop punk scene, and yeah, we’re definitely keeping them on our radar.

À propos de LUZER

Le groupe s’est formé à Mexico, comme dans un film : ils se sont rencontrés à des house parties, et boom, la magie a pris. Le chanteur et le batteur ont même découvert qu’ils étaient allés à la même école de musique. Ils mixent leurs racines mexicaines avec un amour évident pour la scène pop punk des années 2000. Le tout avec une bonne dose de sincérité, de bordel joyeux et de passion.

Verdict :

Luzer réussit un coup de maître avec ce premier EP. C’est sincère, explosif, fun et hyper bien produit sans perdre l’âme DIY. Clairement, ils sont en train de se tracer une route solide dans la scène pop punk latine, et franchement, on va les suivre de très, très près.
