Alright. Let’s be real for a second: this album hits like a truck.

Not a light slap, nah, this is the kind that comes outta nowhere, spins your head around, and instantly makes you go “yeah… they leveled up.” With Nightmare Tripping, dropping March 27, Don Broco pull up with zero restraint and deliver what’s probably their heaviest and most ambitious record to date.

And honestly? I had a damn good time with this one.

A dark, messy (but controlled) descent

From the jump, you’re warned: this is darker, tighter, way more brutal.
The band pushes their whole sound way further than before, diving into something that feels borderline uncomfortable at times, like a fever dream mixed with a full-blown anxiety spiral on steroids.

And right in the middle of it all, you’ve got Rob stepping in as “Bobby Damage.”
No more holding back, he’s screaming, growling, going all in. And the crazy part? It fits him perfectly. It gives the band a sharper, more aggressive edge without ever losing what makes them… well, them.

Because yeah, even when it hits hard, it still grooves like hell.
The hooks are insanely catchy, the production is packed with details, and there’s always that unpredictable twist that keeps you guessing what’s coming next.

Chronique d’un bordel massif, ambitieux… et franchement jouissif

Bon. On va être honnêtes deux secondes : cet album, c’est une baffe.

Pas la petite tape gentille, non, la grosse qui part de nulle part, qui te retourne la tête, et où tu te dis direct “ok, ils ont passé un cap”. Avec Nightmare Tripping, Don Broco débarque le 27 mars en mode zéro retenue, et balance probablement leur projet le plus lourd et le plus ambitieux à ce jour.

Et franchement ? J’ai passé un très très bon moment.

Une descente bien crade (mais maîtrisée)

Dès les premières secondes, t’es prévenu : ça va être plus sombre, plus tendu, plus brutal.
Le groupe pousse son délire beaucoup plus loin que d’habitude, avec une ambiance presque malsaine par moments, un vrai trip entre rêve bizarre et crise d’angoisse sous stéroïdes.

Et au centre de tout ça, t’as Rob qui arrive en mode Bobby Damage.
Le mec ne fait plus semblant : ça crie, ça growl, ça arrache. Et le pire, c’est que ça lui va parfaitement. Ça donne une nouvelle gueule au groupe, plus agressive, mais sans jamais perdre leur identité.

Parce que oui, même quand ça tabasse sévère, ça groove toujours autant.
Les refrains restent ultra accrocheurs, les prods sont blindées de détails, et t’as toujours ce côté imprévisible qui fait que t’as aucune idée de ce qui arrive après.

Tracks That Hit (and Stick With You)

There’s really no filler here. But yeah, some tracks hit harder than others.

“Cellophane” kicks things off like a straight punch to the face.
Sharp riffs, constant tension, and that exact moment where you realize Rob has fully gone hardcore for real. That breakdown? Filthy in the best way.

“True Believers” (feat. Sam Carter) is pure chaos.
This thing is built to set venues on fire. Screams everywhere, heavy as hell, makes you wanna wreck the place. But more importantly, this feels like the real Sam Carter again. After a last Architects record that felt kinda sleepy (minus a few tracks), hearing him go this hard again is honestly refreshing. He sounds locked in, aggressive, fully alive. And yeah, it makes a difference.

“Euphoria” is funky energy on steroids.
It grooves like crazy, makes you wanna move instantly, and proves (again) they can go heavy without ever getting boring or one-dimensional.

“Hype Man” is straight-up the anthem.
You can already picture it blowing up live. Catchy, a little dumb (in the best way), and ridiculously effective.

“Pacify Me” is the sleeper hit, and easily a standout.
Dark, hypnotic, almost addictive. It creeps in, wraps around you, and doesn’t let go. The balance between heavy riffs and eerie melodies is spot on. Lowkey one of the best tracks on the record!

Des morceaux qui frappent (et qui restent)

Y’a pas vraiment de ventre mou ici. Mais forcément, certains titres sortent du lot.

“Cellophane”ouvre le bal comme un coup de pression direct.
Riffs tranchants, tension constante, et surtout ce moment où tu réalises que Rob est passé en mode hardcore pour de vrai. Le breakdown est juste sale comme il faut.

“True Believers” (feat. Sam Carter), c’est le chaos total.
Un morceau taillé pour mettre le feu en live. Ça hurle dans tous les sens, c’est ultra lourd, t’as envie de tout retourner. Mais surtout, on retrouve enfin le vrai Sam Carter. Après un dernier album d’Architects un peu endormi (à part deux-trois morceaux), ça fait vraiment plaisir de l’entendre comme ça. Là, il est à fond, agressif, habité. Et clairement, ça change tout.

“Euphoria”, c’est le délire funky sous stéroïdes.
Ça groove à mort, ça donne envie de bouger, et ça prouve encore une fois qu’ils peuvent faire du lourd sans devenir chiants ou linéaires.

“Hype Man”, c’est clairement l’hymne.
Le genre de track que tu vois déjà exploser en concert. C’est catchy, un peu débile, mais ultra efficace.

“Pacify Me”, c’est la pépite un peu cachée, et clairement mon coup de cœur.
Sombre, hypnotique, presque addictif. Le morceau t’attrape doucement et te lâche plus. L’équilibre entre riffs lourds et ambiances planantes est parfait. Franchement, un des meilleurs titres de l’album!

And then there’s “Nightmare Tripping” featuring Nickelback.

Yeah. Let’s talk about it.

On paper, it sounds weird. Almost ridiculous.
But in reality? It absolutely works.

Rob comes in full beast mode, throwing out some seriously aggressive screams… and then Chad Kroeger shows up with that instantly recognizable voice and drops a hook that sticks immediately.

And the craziest part? It fits perfectly.
No awkward clash, no weird mismatch, just a huge, hard-hitting track that hooks you from the first listen.

Honestly, one of the standout moments on the album, no question.

Strong Features, Clear Vision

What’s great is the features aren’t just there for show.
They actually bring something to the table, pushing the tracks even further. There’s a real sense that this was built as a cohesive album, not just a random playlist of bangers.

And you can feel that all the way through: every track has its own identity, but everything flows naturally. It builds, it breathes when it needs to, and by the end, it kinda leaves you knocked out.

Et puis y’a “Nightmare Tripping” avec Nickelback.

Ouais. On va en parler.

Sur le papier, ça paraît improbable. Presque absurde.
Mais en vrai ? C’est une énorme réussite.

Rob arrive en mode furie, balance des screams bien vénères… et derrière, t’as Chad Kroeger qui débarque avec son timbre reconnaissable direct pour poser un refrain hyper addictif.

Et le pire, c’est que ça marche parfaitement.
Aucune gêne, aucun décalage, juste un morceau massif, efficace, qui te reste en tête dès la première écoute.

Franchement, un des gros highlights de l’album, facile.

Des feats solides et une vraie vision

Ce qui est cool, c’est que les feats sont pas là pour faire joli.
Ils apportent vraiment quelque chose, ils poussent les morceaux plus loin. Y’a une vraie envie de construire un album cohérent, pas juste une playlist de bangers.

Et ça se sent sur toute la durée : chaque track a sa vibe, mais tout s’enchaîne naturellement. Ça monte en intensité, ça respire quand il faut, et ça finit par te laisser un peu KO.

It’s heavier, more technical, more ambitious…
but still just as fun, still ridiculously catchy.
