Nine years of total radio silence, and the Swedish crew are back like, “Chill guys, we’re not dead , just had to recharge our amps (and our feelings).”
And honestly? Totally worth the wait.

Neuf ans de silence radio, et les Suédois reviennent en mode “ok les gars, on est pas morts, on avait juste besoin de recharger nos amplis (et nos émotions)”. Et franchement ? Ça valait l’attente.

“Blood Covenant”: A Comeback That Hits Hard (and Might Make You Tear Up a Bit)

From the very first track, it’s clear these guys didn’t come back just to mess around. The sound is massive, razor-sharp, and insanely well-produced (shoutout to Henrik Udd, always behind the best-sounding chaos).

The opener grabs you by the collar, smacks you with a couple of riffs, and throws you straight into a filthy breakdown, the kind of moment where you suddenly find yourself headbanging in your kitchen like it’s Core Fest 2025.

Then comes “Heaven”, and there’s no way you’re not screaming that chorus. It’s feel-good metalcore at its fines, drenched in sweat, emotion, and a touch of lost (or maybe rediscovered) youth. Robert Ljung shifts effortlessly from possessed screams to clean, melodic hooks without losing an ounce of authenticity.

By the end, you just wanna jump around and maybe cry a little, which, let’s be honest, is the ultimate post-hardcore sweet spot.

“Blood Covenant” : le come-back qui tabasse (et fait un peu pleurer aussi)

Dès le premier titre, t’as compris que le groupe n’est pas revenu pour enfiler des perles. Le son est massif, précis, et super bien produit (merci Henrik Udd, toujours dans les bons coups).

Le morceau d’ouverture t’attrape par le col, te met deux claques de riffs, et te balance direct dans un breakdown bien sale, le genre de moment où tu te surprends à headbanger dans ta cuisine comme si t’étais au Core Fest.

Puis arrive “Heaven”, et là, impossible de pas hurler le refrain. C’est du metalcore feel good, le genre de track qui sent la sueur, les émotions, et la jeunesse perdue (ou retrouvée). Robert Ljung, le chanteur, passe de hurlements possédés à des refrains ultra-mélodiques sans perdre une goutte de crédibilité.

Bref, t’as envie de sauter partout et de chialer un peu, ce qui est, soyons honnêtes, exactement le combo gagnant du post-hardcore.

While a lot of modern core bands go all in on mindless heaviness, Adept bring something real, an emotional pulse that cuts through the noise.

“You” stands out as the most vulnerable track of the bunch, dripping with nostalgia, frustration, and that late-night energy of screaming your lungs out into the void. Then “Parting Ways” hits, all crushing riffs and pent-up rage, and suddenly you’re throwing your fist in the air, yelling right along with them.

Special shoutout to the guitars: these guys don’t just chug, they slide in slick, almost old-school solos without ever breaking the flow. You can tell they’ve put real care into the songwriting; every track has its own flavor, balancing catchy riffs, dreamy moments, and full-on sonic brawls.

Des émotions, des solos, et un gros cœur sous les tatouages

Là où beaucoup de groupes de core actuels jouent la carte du bourrinage sans nuance, Adept dégage une vraie vibe émotionnelle.

“You” est clairement le morceau le plus sensible du lot, ça sent la nostalgie, la frustration, les soirées à gueuler ses tripes dans le vide. Et quand “Parting Ways” enchaîne avec ses riffs plombés et ses screams pleins de rage contenue, t’as juste envie de lever ton poing et hurler avec eux.

Mention spéciale aux guitares : les mecs ne se contentent pas de bourriner, ils glissent des solos hyper propres, parfois limite old-school, sans jamais casser la dynamique du morceau. On sent qu’ils ont bossé pour que chaque titre ait sa petite saveur, entre riffs catchy, moments planants et bastons sonores.

A Modern Sound Without Losing Its Soul

Production-wise, this thing slaps. The bass rumbles, the vocals hit hard, and everything sounds crisp without ever feeling plastic or overpolished. “Ignore The Sun” and “The Rapture of Dust” send the album off into the stratosphere, it’s heavy, but there’s a real cinematic weight behind it.

You finish the record exhausted but happy, the kind of listen that makes you wanna hit replay just to feel that punch all over again.

The (Small) Catch
Let’s be real, it does get a bit formulaic at times. The structure’s pretty standard: scream verse, clean chorus, breakdown, repeat. But when it’s done with this much heart and precision, it’s hard to hold it against them.

Adept aren’t trying to reinvent metalcore, they’re just living it, breathing it, and feeling every note. And honestly? They’re doing it better than most of the scene right now.

Un son moderne sans perdre l’âme

Côté prod’, c’est du lourd : les basses grondent, les voix claquent, tout est net mais sans tomber dans le plastique. “Ignore The Sun” et “The Rapture of Dust” envoient la fin d’album dans les étoiles : ça cogne fort, mais avec une vraie dimension dramatique.

On termine lessivé, mais heureux. Le genre d’écoute où t’as envie de relancer l’album direct juste pour revivre la claque.

Le (petit) bémol

Ouais, faut être honnête : ça tourne parfois un peu en rond. Les structures sont classiques, couplet-scream, refrain-clair, breakdown, repeat. Mais bon, quand c’est fait avec autant de sincérité et de maîtrise, perso, je pardonne.

Adept ne cherche pas à réinventer le core, juste à le ressentir à fond. Et ça, ils le font mieux que la moitié de la scène.

Between nostalgia, punch, and pure sincerity, Blood Covenant checks every box for a killer comeback. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s packed with guts and heart, the kind of record that’s gonna stick in your playlist for a long while.

Entre nostalgie, patate et sincérité, Blood Covenant coche toutes les cases du bon retour. Pas révolutionnaire, mais plein de tripes et de cœur, avec des morceaux qui resteront dans ta playlist bien longtemps.
