From the moment they step on stage, hoods up, dressed in black, Zeal & Ardor set a heavy, brooding tone. The crowd, totally locked in, can feel the tension building. And then, boom, the energy erupts. Manuel Gagneux, the charismatic frontman, is clearly hyped to be in Paris. He even drops a few lines in French, a cool touch that really connects with the audience.

The setlist? Basically a greatest hits rundown. Classics like ‘Devil Is Fine‘, ‘Blood in the River‘, ‘Gravedigger’s Chant‘, and ‘Ship on Fire‘ blend seamlessly with newer tracks from their latest record GREIF, including ‘Kilonova‘, ‘Fend You Off‘, and ‘Clawing Out‘. It’s the perfect mix, satisfying day-one fans and fresh ears alike.

As for the visuals, Zeal & Ardor keep it stripped down, minimal lighting, no flashy extras. Just their logo hanging behind the drummer and a whole lot of atmosphere. And honestly, it works. The show runs a tight hour and fifteen, no filler, just raw, focused intensity. It might not be the most jaw-dropping concert ever, but they more than deliver. A powerful, tight performance that’s a solid reminder of why Zeal & Ardor stand out in today’s metal scene.

Dès leur arrivée, encapuchonnés, vêtus de noir, ils instaurent une atmosphère pesante. Le public, réceptif et enthousiaste, sent la tension monter. Puis, d’un coup, l’énergie explose. Manuel Gagneux, leader charismatique du projet, est ravi d’être à Paris et s’adresse plusieurs fois à la foule en français, un détail qui ne passe pas inaperçu et renforce la connexion avec le public.

La setlist est un véritable best-of de leur discographie. Des morceaux cultes comme “Devil Is Fine”, “Blood in the River”, “Gravedigger’s Chant” et “Ship on Fire” côtoient les nouvelles compositions issues de leur dernier album GREIF, dont “Kilonova”, “Fend You Off” et “Clawing Out”. Un équilibre parfait qui satisfait autant les fans de la première heure que les nouveaux venus.

Côté scénographie, Zeal & Ardor opte pour la sobriété. Peu de lumières, aucun artifice superflu, juste leur logo en fond de scène, trône derrière le batteur. Tout repose sur l’ambiance et la puissance musicale. Et ça fonctionne. Le concert est intense, mené sans temps mort durant 1h15. Ce n’est peut-être pas la claque ultime, mais le boulot est fait et bien fait. Un set efficace, habité, qui nous rappelle pourquoi Zeal & Ardor est un groupe à part dans le paysage metal actuel.
