This Monday night, Backstage By The Mill hosted an evening fueled by pop-punk and melodic hardcore. In this intimate Parisian venue, where the closeness between the crowd and the bands amplifies the energy, the atmosphere was bound to be electric. The lineup was a perfect mix of local and international talent: Two Trains Left, one of the leading forces in the French pop-punk scene, Mirabelle, whose relentless energy keeps growing their fanbase, Germany’s politically charged Shoreline, and finally, the American veterans Four Year Strong, guaranteeing an epic finale.

From the very first moments, the excitement was tangible. The pit was packed, conversations buzzed, and some fans were already chanting band names. Everyone knew this was going to be a wild night, no one was standing still.

Ce lundi soir, le Backstage By The Mill accueillait une soirée placée sous le signe du pop-punk et du hardcore mélodique. Dans cette petite salle parisienne où la proximité entre le public et les groupes décuple l’intensité des concerts, l’ambiance s’annonçait électrique. L’affiche mêlait des talents locaux et internationaux : Two Trains Left, fers de lance de la scène pop-punk française, Mirabelle, dont l’énergie ne cesse de faire grandir leur fanbase, les Allemands engagés de Shoreline, et enfin les vétérans américains de Four Year Strong, garants d’un final en apothéose.

Dès les premiers instants, l’excitation est palpable. La fosse est compacte, les conversations vont bon train, et certains commencent déjà à scander le nom des groupes. Tout le monde sait que la soirée va être intense, et personne ne semble prêt à rester en retrait.

Two Trains Left – 20 Minutes of Mayhem

From the moment they step on stage, the crowd was already hyped, chanting the band’s name. Two Trains Left didn’t waste any time, kicking things off with “Not OK.” Dimitri, the frontman, shouted, “What’s up, Paris? We’ve got 20 minutes to raise hell!” And that’s exactly what they did. Within seconds, the pit was bouncing.

With “Comfort Zone“, the crowd’s enthusiasm showed no sign of fading. Then came “Power Lines“ with its gritty intro: “How are we feeling, Paris? Yesss! Thanks for being here! I wanna see this place go crazy for this one!” The pit obliged, chaos erupted. The highlight of the set was “Something New“. “Are you ready, Paris?” Dimitri called out, demanding max energy. The response? Non-stop jumping, while Tom, the bassist, orchestrated a wall of death. Within seconds, the pit split in two, waiting for the explosion of the track to clash in a massive collision. To close things out, they hit “Disappear.”“Paris, this is our last song, you’ve been amazing!” Dimitri shouted. Tom followed up with a command: “Circle pit!” And the pit obeyed, swirling into a final tornado of energy. Bonus points for Tom‘s “Bassists Against Racists” sticker, proudly displayed on his bass. That’s punk spirit, through and through.

Two Trains Left – 20 minutes pour tout casser

Dès leur entrée sur scène, le public est déjà chauffé à blanc, scandant le nom du groupe. Two Trains Left ne se font pas prier et attaquent directement avec “Not OK”. Dimitri, au chant, lance un “Salut Paris, on a 20 minutes pour faire le bordel !” et c’est exactement ce qu’ils font. En deux temps trois mouvements, la fosse est en train de jumper.

Sur “Comfort Zone”, l’enthousiasme du public ne faiblit pas une seconde. Puis arrive “Power Lines” et son intro rugueuse : “Comment ça va Paris ? Ouiiii ! Merci d’être là ! Je veux voir foutre la merde sur ce morceau !” La fosse obéit, le pogo éclate. Le moment fort du set reste “Something New”. “T’es chaud Paris ?” demande Dimitri avant de réclamer un max d’énergie. Résultat : ça saute partout et Tom, le bassiste, demande une séparation de la salle en deux. En quelques secondes, la fosse s’ouvre en grand et n’attend qu’une chose : l’explosion du morceau pour partir en wall of death. Pour finir en beauté, “Disappear”. “Paris, c’est notre dernière chanson, vous avez été incroyables ce soir !” Balance Dimitri. Tom enchaîne : “Circle pit !”. La fosse exécute, dans une dernière tornade d’énergie. Mention spéciale pour son sticker “Bassists Against Racists” affiché fièrement sur sa basse. L’esprit punk, le vrai.

Mirabelle – Crowd Surfing and Pure Energy

The set change was lightning-fast, and Mirabelle hit the stage with an unexpected but effective country-infused intro. “Streetlight“ ignited the night, and within seconds, the pit was jumping in sync. First crowd surfer of the night, and definitely not the last! Wasting no time, they ripped into “The Worst.“ “Bonsoir, we’re Mirabelle! How the hell are you??” the frontman called out. A minor technical issue flickered in the background, but the audience’s raw energy made it irrelevant. Fans screamed the lyrics back, their voices merging into one.

Then came “Like My Favorite Liquor U Make Me Wanna Sing“. Guitarist Pierre hyped the crowd: “Now’s the time to go wild!” The pit took that to heart. For “Big Sleep“, the singer addressed the crowd: “Guys, this is insane! We love playing here!” Every voice in the room joined in, and the energy escalated, circle pits, jumps, the whole package.

They followed up with “6 Feet Underground“, taking a moment to shout out the other bands: “Make some noise for every band tonight!” The crowd clapped in unison before belting out every word of the song.

Finally, “The Night of My Murder“ wrapped up their set. Drummer Gianni asked the crowd to light up their phone flashlights for an epic moment, but instead, the pit broke out into pogo madness and nonstop crowd surfing. Matt (guitarist) went all in, diving into the pit, carried by fans lost in pure euphoria.

Mirabelle – Slam et ferveur

Le changement de plateau se fait à une vitesse folle, et Mirabelle débarque avec une intro teintée de country, surprenante mais efficace. “Streetlight” enclenche les hostilités, et dès les premières notes, la fosse répond en sautant à l’unisson. Premier slam de la soirée, et ça ne sera pas le dernier ! Sans perdre de temps, ils enchaînent avec “The Worst”. “Bonsoir, on s’appelle Mirabelle, comment ça va ???” lance le chanteur. Petit problème technique en arrière-plan, mais presque imperceptible tant l’engouement du public couvre tout. Les voix s’unissent, le public ne lâche rien.

“Like My Favorite Liquor U Make Me Wanna Sing” voit Pierre, le guitariste, prendre la parole : “C’est le moment de foutre le dawa !” Aussitôt dit, aussitôt fait : la fosse s’agite encore plus. Sur “Big Sleep”, le chanteur s’adresse à la foule : “Les amis, ça fait trop plaisir de jouer ici ce soir !” Tout le monde reprend les paroles en chœur, et la tension monte : circle pit, jumps, la totale.

Le set se poursuit avec “6 Feet Underground”, durant lequel le groupe rend hommage aux autres artistes de la soirée : “Faites du bruit pour tous les groupes !” Le public tape dans ses mains en rythme avant que le morceau démarre et s’époumone sans retenue.

Enfin, “The Night of My Murder” clôt leur prestation en beauté. Gianni, le batteur, demande au public d’allumer leurs flashs pour un moment épique, mais la fosse ne se limite pas à ça : pogo et slam s’enchaînent. Le guitariste Matt finit carrément dans la fosse, porté par le public en pleine euphorie.

Shoreline – Hardcore with a Message

Next up, Shoreline took over the stage. From the start, their message was clear: the bassist sported a “Go Vegan” long-sleeve, while the singer-guitarist rocked a “No One Is Illegal” tee. No doubt, Shoreline was here to make an impact, both musically and politically. They launched into “Needles,” and the energy exploded instantly. The room bounced, the pit responded immediately. On “Eat My Soul“, things got a bit more controlled, but heads were still banging and voices belting.

Before playing “Seoul“, they took a moment: “We’re from Germany, this is our first time in Paris, and we’re stoked to be here!” They also reinforced their values: “No racism, no homophobia, no sexism!” The message resonated as the audience clapped along before diving back into the chaos. The set continued with “Cold Feet“, the energy still off the charts. Then “Reviver“ brought a quick intermission: “On tour, our van broke down between Berlin and Vienna… and it cost us a fortune. So, buy some merch!” The crowd laughed, and the music kicked back in.

When “Darius“ hit, the pit exploded again. They followed up with “Green Paint“: “Make some noise for all the bands tonight!!! We’ve got two songs left, move your asses!” No need to ask twice, the pit went wild.

Closing out with “Bent/Broken“, they left the stage on a high note, the crowd buzzing with adrenaline.

Shoreline – Hardcore à message fort

C’est au tour des Allemands de Shoreline de prendre possession de la scène. Dès leur entrée, les messages sont clairs : le bassiste arbore un long sleeve “Go Vegan”, tandis que le chanteur-guitariste porte un tee-shirt “No One Is Illegal”. Pas de doute, Shoreline est là pour envoyer du lourd, autant musicalement que dans les valeurs qu’ils défendent. Le set démarre sur “Needles”, et l’énergie explose instantanément. Ça saute, ça bouge, et la fosse répond au quart de tour. Sur “Eat My Soul”, c’est plus contenu, mais les têtes bougent et les fans chantent en chœur.

Petite pause avant “Seoul” : “On vient d’Allemagne, c’est notre première fois à Paris, et on est très contents d’être là !” Ils en profitent pour rappeler leur engagement : “No racism, no homophobia, no sexism !” Le message passe et le public tape dans ses mains en rythme, avant qu’ils ne relancent la machine. Le groupe continue avec “Cold Feet”, et la déferlante d’énergie ne faiblit pas. Sur “Reviver”, ils prennent un moment pour raconter une anecdote : “Pendant le tour, on est tombés en panne entre Berlin et Vienne, et ça nous a coûté une couille… Donc, go acheter du merch !” La salle rigole, et la musique reprend.

Puis vient “Darius”, et là, le pogo éclate de nouveau. “Green Paint” suit immédiatement : “Faites du bruit pour tous les groupes !!! Il nous reste deux chansons, bougez !” Pas besoin de le dire deux fois, la fosse s’agite violemment.

Enfin, le show se conclut sur “Bent/Broken”, un morceau parfait pour clore leur set avec intensité.

Four Year Strong – The Ultimate Chaos

The lights dimmed, and the moment Four Year Strong hit the stage, the room erupted. The crowd was deafening, already belting out the lyrics before the first note dropped. They kicked off with “Aftermath/Afterthought“, and something rare happened, the crowd sang the first lines before the band could. The energy was through the roof. Without hesitation, they blasted into “Bad Habit“, sending the pit into a frenzy, massive moshing, wave after wave of crowd surfers.

“Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die“ pushed things further. Then came “Get Out of My Head“, with Alan Day hyping the crowd: “Give us all your energy!” And they did, the pit exploded into total chaos.

The band then fires off “It Must Really Suck To Be Four Year Strong Right Now“, and the faces in the pit are a mix of sweat, smiles, and pure bliss. Matt, Mirabelle’s guitarist, even joins the chaos, diving into a crowd surf while screaming the lyrics at the top of his lungs.

The setlist was relentless: “Find My Way Back“, “Uncooked“ (with photographer Mélanie ditching her camera to dive into the pit), “Daddy Of Mine“ (with an immediate circle pit demand, granted, of course), and “Brain Pain“, where the final breakdown left everyone breathless.

Les lumières s’éteignent, et dès que Four Year Strong monte sur scène, c’est l’explosion. Le public les acclame, impatient de se prendre une claque musicale. Le concert débute avec “Aftermath/Afterthought”, et chose rare : la foule chante à la place des chanteurs dès les premières paroles. L’ambiance est déjà électrique. Sans transition, “Bad Habit” embraye et la fosse devient incontrôlable : pogo massif, premiers slams en rafale.

Sur “Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die”, la pression monte encore d’un cran. Devant, ça pousse fort. Vient ensuite “Get Out of My Head”, où Alan Day harangue le public : “Donnez-nous toute votre énergie !” La réponse ne se fait pas attendre : la fosse explose, c’est le chaos total.

Le groupe balance ensuite “It Must Really Suck To Be Four Year Strong Right Now”, et les visages dans la fosse sont un mélange de sueur, de sourires et de pur bonheur. Matt, le guitariste de Mirabelle, se joint même à la fête, plongeant dans un slam en hurlant les paroles.

 La setlist est un enchaînement de classiques : “Find My Way Back”, “Uncooked” (où Mélanie, la photographe, abandonne carrément son appareil pour plonger dans le pit), “Daddy Of Mine” (avec une demande de circle pit instantanément suivie), puis “Brain Pain”, où la fin planante laisse le public en suspension.

During “Maybe It’s Me“, every person in the room screamed the lyrics. The bassist from Two Trains Left couldn’t resist and launched into the pit himself.

Closing in with “Seventeen“, “Dead End Friend“ (with a quick crowd poll, “Who’s seeing us for the first time? Who’s been here before?”), and “Go Down In History“, the set hit its final stretch.

Alan warned: “Two songs left—let’s GO!” They delivered “We All Float Down Here“, then wrapped up with the ultimate banger: “Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)“. The room shook. Every single person jumped, crowd surfed, and screamed.

One wild twist of fate? Matt from Mirabelle, who had been moshing all night, took a nasty fall during a stage dive, fracturing his femur. Paramedics had to step in. This show literally broke bones.

Avant d’attaquer la fin du set, Alan prévient : “Il nous reste que deux chansons, let’s go !” Ils balancent alors “We All Float Down Here”, puis, en ultime feu d’artifice, “Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)”. Ce dernier morceau est une véritable apothéose : tout le monde chante, saute, slamme, le sol tremble. Une vraie conclusion en apothéose.

Petit bémol (ou grand coup du sort ?) : Matt de Mirabelle, qui avait déjà bien profité du pogo, se blesse violemment lors d’un slam qui tourne mal. Résultat ? Fracture du fémur et intervention des pompiers. Un concert qui a littéralement cassé des os.

Ce 17 février 2025 au Backstage By The Mill aura été une soirée intense, entre énergie folle, engagement et moments inoubliables. Two Trains Left a ouvert les hostilités avec une détermination sans faille, Mirabelle a embrasé la fosse avec ses hymnes fédérateurs, Shoreline a imposé sa puissance tout en délivrant ses messages inclusifs, et Four Year Strong a offert une prestation survoltée, concluant la soirée sur une note aussi euphorique qu’épuisante.

Une chose est sûre : ce soir-là, personne n’est reparti indemne, dans tous les sens du terme.
