Opening Act: The Fran-Tones, French-Made Surf Rock

Right from the start, Petit Bain is buzzing with energy. The crowd is packed in tight, amped up and itching to see The 5.6.7.8’s, but it’s the French outfit The Fran-Tones who get the honor of kicking things off. Their fiery surf-rock mix, sharp riffs and breakneck rhythms, hits instantly. The room heats up fast, the front rows start dancing, and smiles spread everywhere. Within just a few songs, The Fran-Tones prove themselves to be true crowd-igniters, serving up a groovy, hard-hitting warm-up that puts everyone in exactly the right mood for what’s coming next.

Dès le début de la soirée, la salle du Petit Bain déborde d’énergie. La foule est compacte, électrisée par l’impatience de retrouver The 5.6.7.8’s, mais c’est au groupe français The Fran-Tones que revient l’honneur d’ouvrir les hostilités.
Leur surf rock énervé, mêlant riffs acérés et rythmiques effrénées, fait mouche . La salle se chauffe rapidement, les premiers rangs se mettent à danser, les sourires s’échangent. En quelques titres, The Fran-Tones s’imposent comme de véritables chauffeurs de salle, offrant une entrée en matière à la fois groovy et puissante, et laissant le public dans les meilleures dispositions.

The Big Japanese Blowout: Raw Energy and Iconic Covers

A little after 9 p.m., the lights drop, and the legendary Japanese trio steps out. Akiko (bass), Sachiko (drums), and her sister Ronnie (guitar/vocals) take over the stage to a full-on eruption from the crowd. From the very first chords, the Paris audience is all in, singing, shouting, dancing… the whole room feels like a celebration. The show starts with a bit of warm-up time as the band dials in their sound, but the momentum builds fast, driven by Ronnie’s fire, charisma, and constant playful winks to the crowd. True to their reputation, the setlist blends original tracks (“Mothra,” a nod to the friendliest kaiju in the Godzilla universe, and “Dororo,” paying tribute to Tezuka’s cult manga) with covers that blow genre boundaries wide open. Every song run through the 5.6.7.8’s filter hits differently, louder, wilder, bigger. On the covers side, they tear through a feral take on “What’d I Say” (Ray Charles), a punchy “Kid” (The Pretenders), and a roaring “Road Runner” (The Wailers) that turns Petit Bain into a full-on garage dance floor. This back-and-forth between originals and reimagined classics shows once again just how alive the garage scene is, and how easily this trio can unite hardcore fans and newcomers discovering a living legend in real time.

Un peu après 21h, les lumières baissent : le trio légendaire japonais fait son entrée. Akiko (basse), Sachiko (batterie) et sa sœur Ronnie (guitare/chant) s’emparent de la scène sous une ovation générale.
Dès les premiers accords, le public parisien répond présent : chants, cris, danses… L’atmosphère est à la fête ! Le début du concert demande un léger rodage, les musiciennes ajustent leur son, mais la tension monte rapidement, portée par la fougue et le charisme de Ronnie qui multiplie les clins d’œil complices. La setlist, fidèle à leur réputation, mêle compositions originales (« Mothra », clin d’œil au kaiju le plus bienveillant du bestiaire Godzilla, « Dororo », en hommage au manga culte de Tezuka) et reprises explosant les frontières du genre. Chaque morceau revisité à la sauce 5.6.7.8’s prend une autre dimension.

The final night of a tour always promises a few surprises, and tonight delivers. The stage welcomes none other than Ludella Black, a cornerstone of British garage rock and former member of The Delmonas. Fresh off a brand-new collaborative maxi with the trio, she joins The 5.6.7.8’s to perform all four tracks from their new project, followed by a classic Delmonas cover that sends the crowd into a roar. As if that weren’t enough, a mysterious guest guitarist steps in for a handful of scorchers, pushing the energy even higher. It’s a moment of pure garage communion, generations, countries, and styles colliding in the best possible way.

Invitée de prestige et guests surprise

Qui dit dernière date de la tournée dit surprises : ce soir, la scène accueille en guest Ludella Black, figure incontournable du garage britannique et ancienne des Delmonas. Fraîchement collaboratrice du trio sur un maxi vinyle tout juste sorti, elle rejoint les 5.6.7.8’s pour interpréter les quatre titres de ce projet commun, puis une reprise historique des Delmonas sous les applaudissements du public. Le moment est d’autant plus fort qu’un guest guitariste, resté mystérieux, rejoint la fête pour quelques morceaux bouillants. Un instant de pure communion garage, entre générations et continents.

The band’s garage rock, that improbable mix of controlled chaos, off-the-cuff improvisation, and pure musical honesty, proves once again that the genre is very much alive.

And because authenticity doesn’t end with the last note, Akiko and Sachiko stay behind for photos and autographs. Signed vinyl, quick selfies, unforgettable moments — Paris will not soon forget this final date, filled with emotion, connection, and everything that makes garage rock timeless.
