A Dreamlike Night with Friends

In a packed venue, we were lucky enough to catch American artist Sydney Rose’s second Paris show. After performing at Les Étoiles last June, the young musician took on La Bellevilloise this time around.

Right up front, it was clear that Sydney Rose already has her devoted fans. Dressed in long white dresses and tiny flower crowns, they perfectly matched the vibe and setting of the evening. The atmosphere felt dreamlike and glowing, soft, beautiful, and totally contagious.

Une nuit onirique entre potes :

Dans une salle bien bondée, nous avons eu la chance d’assister au second concert parisien de l’artiste américaine Sydney Rose. Après être passée par Les Étoiles en juin dernier, la jeune artiste s’attaque cette fois-ci à La Bellevilloise.

Dans les premiers rangs, on constate que Sydney Rose a déjà des fidèles. Toutes en tenue de longues robes blanches et petites couronnes de fleurs, elles se fondent à merveille avec le décor et l’ambiance de la soirée. En effet, l’atmosphère dégagée ce soir est un mélange onirique et lumineux. C’est très beau, agréable et communicatif.

Whether she was performing solo on guitar or piano, or backed by her drummer and multi-instrumentalist bandmate, who switched between violin, guitar, and saxophone, the magic never faded throughout the night.

There was a real sense of connection and back-and-forth between Sydney Rose and her fans. From handwritten signs with sweet messages to gifts handed straight to the stage, or just little chats and hugs, the closeness felt genuine.

During what she called “the only happy song” of her set, she asked the crowd to give the biggest compliment they could think of to her friend onstage. She cracked a few jokes too: “Pedro Pascal really wanted to come tonight, but he was busy. Otherwise, he totally would’ve been here.”
Moments like that made the night feel more like you were at a friend’s gig than at a formal show. I don’t use the word family lightly, but Sydney Rose truly brought that feeling to life, it was like a gathering of friends cheering on one of their own.

At one point, she even stopped mid-song when a fan fainted. While waiting for medics to arrive, she chatted with the audience and signed a few autographs. All evening long, you could feel her surprise and joy at the warm, heartfelt welcome from her French fans.

She also shared a few fun stories, like how she often writes songs inspired by movies and TV shows. She admitted she was so obsessed with The Last of Us that she wrote a track about it, titled “Before and After You.”
She told us she’s originally from Georgia but moved to Nashville to pursue music. That’s why her tour is called “I Know What I Want.” She knew exactly what she wanted, and it looks like destiny’s proving her right.

Que ce soit seule avec sa guitare ou au piano, accompagnée par sa batteuse et violoniste/guitariste/saxophoniste, la magie opère tout au long de la soirée. Il y aura beaucoup de communication et de partage entre la chanteuse et ses fans. Que ce soit par des pancartes avec des mots affectueux, de nombreux cadeaux donnés directement à l’artiste ou simplement des échanges de quelques mots et accolades, il y a une vraie proximité.

Pendant sa seule chanson heureuse du set, dixit elle-même, elle demandera à la foule de faire le plus gros compliment à son ami qui l’accompagne ce soir.
Elle s’essaiera à quelques blagues : « Pedro Pascal voulait vraiment venir ce soir, mais il était occupé. Sinon, il serait vraiment venu s’il ne travaillait pas ». Ce genre de petites phrases contribue à accentuer la sensation d’assister au concert d’une amie. J’utilise rarement le mot famille, mais ce soir, Sydney Rose a réussi à transposer cela. On a l’impression d’être à un rassemblement de potes venus voir leur amie.
Elle interrompra son show un moment en pleine chanson, car une fan a fait un malaise. En attendant les secours, elle échangeait avec les fans et faisait des autographes. Tout au long de la soirée, on percevait à la fois l’étonnement et la joie pour l’accueil incroyable de la part de son public français.

On aura aussi droit à quelques anecdotes, comme le fait qu’elle écrit beaucoup sur les séries et films. Elle était tellement passionnée par la série The Last Of Us  qu’elle a écrit une chanson dessus, « Before and After You ».
Elle nous confie également qu’elle vient de Géorgie, aux USA, et qu’elle a déménagé à Nashville pour faire de la musique. C’est pour cela que sa tournée s’appelle « I Know What I Want ». Elle savait ce qu’elle voulait, et le destin ne semble pas lui donner tort.

The live set was tender and beautiful, pulling us straight into the American artist’s world, a dreamy blend of bedroom pop, indie folk, country, and americana. She made sure to introduce her bandmates and shine a light on them several times throughout the show. There was a real sense of unity on stage.

Of course, the crowd got to hear her biggest hit so far, the viral success “We Hug Now.” Before playing it, she asked everyone to hug the person next to them. Her 2024 single “I Stopped Trying” also thrilled the audience, who sang along word for word.

Toward the end of the night, fans in the front rows handed her a huge French flag with her face on it, a gesture she clearly loved. The pacing of the concert was spot-on, moving naturally between intimate moments and upbeat ones. It was a truly beautiful evening, closing with Sydney Rose signing setlists for a few lucky fans.

Le live est beau, doux, et nous transporte dans l’univers de l’Américaine, marqué par plusieurs influences où s’entrechoquent bedroom pop, indie folk, country et americana. Elle présentera ses musiciennes et les mettra à l’honneur plusieurs fois pendant le set. Il y a une vraie unité de groupe.

On aura évidemment droit à son plus grand succès à ce jour, qui a connu une popularité virale et s’est classé dans plusieurs charts, « We Hug Now ». Elle demandera d’ailleurs à tout le monde de prendre son voisin dans les bras.
Son single très populaire, « I Stopped Trying », sorti cette année, a ravi les fans présents ce soir.

Vers la fin du concert, les premiers rangs lui offriront un énorme drapeau français à son effigie, ce qu’elle a grandement apprécié. Le rythme du concert était bien construit, alternant moments plus intimistes et passages plus rythmés. Ce fut une très belle soirée, qui se terminera avec Sydney Rose signant des setlists à quelques fans chanceuses.

We can only hope to see this talented artist back in France soon, hopefully filling bigger and bigger venues next time. One thing’s for sure: we were there, and we’ll be holding on to the sweetest memories of that night.
