Skegss + Soaked – Trabendo

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Trabendo this lit.

The crowd was going wild, and the party energy was unreal. Loved every second of it.

J’ai rarement vu un Trabendo aussi survolté qu’en ce soir-là.

Le public est chaud bouillant et surtout, il se dégage une véritable atmosphère de fête. Ça fait plaisir.

The night kicks off with Soaked, a band that’s already cut its teeth opening for acts like The Libertines. The crowd gives them a super warm welcome, and the trio throws down a killer indie/punk rock set, easily one of the tightest I’ve seen from an opener.

Everyone’s into it, frontman Brandon Frisby dives into the crowd more than once, and caps it all off by smashing his poor, unsuspecting Epiphone.

Talk about a strong start!

Les hostilités démarrent avec Soaked, groupe qui a déjà fait ses armes en ouvrant, par exemple, pour The Libertines. Le public leur réserve un accueil des plus chaleureux, et les trois musiciens vont avoir à cœur de balancer leur indie/punk rock dans un show rarement aussi abouti pour une première partie.

Tout le monde est content, le frontman Brandon Frisby fera plusieurs bains de foule pendant le set, avant de le terminer en fracassant sa pauvre Epiphone, qui n’avait rien demandé.

Une entrée en matière réussie !

Now for the main course: Skegss. And let me tell you, the venue was already hot, sweaty, and buzzing like never before.

The Aussies hit the stage around 9 PM, and the crowd goes absolutely nuts from the first second. Cups are flying, beer’s spraying everywhere, the whole room turns into one giant punk mosh pit, and the crowd-surfing doesn’t let up till the very end.

The band looks a bit surprised by the sheer energy of the Paris crowd, but clearly loving it.

They roll through both classics and newer tracks with tight pacing and a solid flow. No dead time, just good vibes. Everyone’s fully in the moment.

On stage, no frills, no backdrop, no theatrics, no gimmicks. The band alone is more than enough.

After more than an hour and fifteen minutes, the Paris crowd starts chanting for an encore. There’s hope, the lights stay down a little longer… but no dice. That’s the end of the show.
A tiny pang of disappointment, only because the band gave it their all, and the crowd did too. That was the only “off” note of the night. And even then… do you really need a damn encore when the job’s been done this well?

Passons au plat principal : Skeggs, et autant vous dire que la salle est déjà chaude, moite et survoltée comme jamais.

Les Australiens débarquent sur scène aux alentours de 21 heures. Le public est en délire dès les premières secondes. Les gobelets volent, la bière éclabousse dans tous les sens, la salle entière se transforme en pogo punk, et les slams ne s’arrêteront plus avant la fin.

Les musiciens semblent presque étonnés de l’énergie débordante du public parisien, mais plus que ravis !

Le groupe enchaîne sur scène ses classiques comme ses morceaux plus récents, le tout avec une cohérence et un rythme parfaitement pensés. On ne s’ennuie pas, l’heure est à la joie. Tout le monde profite de l’instant.

Sur scène, aucune fioriture. Pas de logo, pas de mise en scène ou autre artifice. Le groupe se suffit à lui-même.

Après plus d’une heure et quart de concert, le public parisien réclame un rappel. On y croit, les lumières tardent à se rallumer… Et pourtant, c’est la fin du bal. Un petit goût de déception, tant le groupe s’est donné à fond pour son public, comme ce dernier pour lui. C’était la seule fausse note de la soirée. Et encore. Après tout, faut-il absolument un putain de rappel quand le taff a été plus que bien fait ?
