Roman Candle: A Broken Foot, but Unstoppable Energy EN/FR

EN
The moment Roman Candle’s frontwoman steps onto the Glazart stage, it’s clear this show isn’t exactly going to go as planned. Crutch in hand, she quickly confirms what we already knew: she broke her foot just a few days earlier. Think that’s going to slow things down? Not a chance. She might not be able to throw herself into the pit tonight, but she’s damn sure going to make the crowd do it for her.

From the opening notes of “Bite Harder Than You Bleed,” she calls for the crowd to move closer to the stage. That’s all it takes: a mosh pit opens up almost instantly, and Glazart erupts into chaos. Roman Candle clearly has no intention of letting a broken foot dictate the intensity of their set.

During “I Can’t Stop Winning,” though, the frustration starts to show. The frontwoman admits she wishes she could dance with everyone, and since she physically can’t, she demands that the crowd crank the energy up another notch. Message received. “Nothing Is Original” then turns the pit into a playground for two-steppers, who waste no time going absolutely wild.

And apparently, that’s still not enough. Before “Lady Lazarus,” she lays down another challenge: she wants even more movement. This time, all fucking hell breaks loose. The pit barely lets up for the rest of the set.

The frontwoman then introduces “Mad Girl’s Love Song,” off their latest album, as her favorite track on the record. Meanwhile, there’s absolutely no slowing down in the crowd. Bodies keep crashing into each other from every direction, as if nobody had any intention of leaving this show with their clothes still in one piece.

As “Can We Watch Something Happy?” kicks in, she drops the news: “We have two more songs.” The pit apparently takes that as a cue to burn through every last ounce of energy. The frontwoman repeatedly holds her mic out to the crowd, who hardly need any encouragement to scream every word back at her. Even Spiruline’s vocalist gets in on the action, grabbing the mic and belting out a few lines herself.

That leaves just “Blasphemous Act.” “Paris, thank you so much again. I want to see you crazy for the last one!” the frontwoman shouts before one final onslaught. The mic keeps making its way back into the crowd, with fans screaming their lungs out as the pit goes absolutely berserk one last time.

Lorsque résonne « Can We Watch Something Happy? », l’annonce tombe : “We have two more songs.”

“Paris, thank you so much again. I want to see you crazy for the last one!” lance la frontwoman avant l’ultime déferlante.

Roman Candle ultimately pulled off quite the paradox: delivering a set with a frontwoman forced to hold back physically, while keeping the crowd in almost constant motion. Since she couldn’t dance herself, she simply got the entire Glazart dancing, moshing, and screaming their lungs out for her. One crutch, one broken foot, and absolutely no intention of taking her foot off the gas.

FR
