For their first-ever European headline tour, Paledusk brought along Knosis, Greyhaven, and Headwreck, four bands with wildly different identities that somehow fit together perfectly. Even with it being a Monday night and doors opening pretty early, the Paris venue filled up fast. The crowd was a real mix: hardcore kids ready to throw down, fans of technical post-hardcore, and die-hard followers of the modern J-rock scene. From the jump, you could tell the whole thing was one breakdown away from complete chaos.

Pour sa première tournée européenne en tête d’affiche, Paledusk avait réuni autour de lui Knosis, Greyhaven et Headwreck, quatre groupes aux identités très différentes mais complémentaires. Malgré un début de semaine et des horaires assez tôt, la salle parisienne se remplit rapidement au fil des minutes, portée par un public mélangeant fans de hardcore, amateurs de post-hardcore technique et passionnés de la scène J-rock moderne. Dès les premiers instants, l’atmosphère donne l’impression que la soirée pourrait rapidement devenir incontrôlable.

Headwreck kicked off the night at Backstage By The Mill in front of an already packed room. The Australians came out swinging right away, bringing an in-your-face energy fueled by crushing riffs and a stage presence that bordered on pure chaos. The band never let the crowd catch its breath, quickly pushing the Paris audience into a frenzy. People were jumping, crashing into each other, and the first waves of crowd movement broke out within the opening songs. With their raw intensity and overflowing stage presence, Headwreck absolutely nailed their job as the opener, setting the tone for a night that was only going to get more unhinged from there.

Les Australiens imposent immédiatement une énergie ultra frontale, entre riffs agressifs et attitude presque chaotique sur scène. Ça saute, ça se bouscule et les premiers mouvements de foule apparaissent dès les premiers morceaux. Avec leur intensité brute et leur présence scénique débordante, Headwreck réussit parfaitement sa mission d’ouverture en lançant la soirée sur des bases particulièrement explosives.

Greyhaven completely shifted the vibe of the night with a far more technical and unpredictable approach. The American band delivered a blend of post-hardcore and mathcore where complex song structures and heavier passages mattered more than instant payoff. The atmosphere in the room became denser and far more focused, largely thanks to the band’s impressive musicianship. Part of the crowd seemed fully locked into the band’s constant twists and turns, even if their set didn’t spark the same immediate chaos that Headwreck did earlier in the night. More demanding and cerebral, Greyhaven’s performance still managed to win over plenty of curious newcomers as the set went on.

Greyhaven change complètement l’atmosphère de la soirée avec une approche beaucoup plus technique et imprévisible. Le groupe américain propose un mélange de post-hardcore et de mathcore où les structures complexes et les passages plus lourds prennent le dessus sur l’efficacité immédiate. L’ambiance devient plus dense et plus attentive dans la salle, notamment grâce à une maîtrise instrumentale impressionnante. Une partie du public semblait totalement absorbée par les variations permanentes du groupe, même si leur proposition n’a pas provoqué une réaction aussi immédiate que celle de Headwreck. Plus exigeant et plus cérébral, le set de Greyhaven aura tout de même réussi à convaincre de nouveaux curieux au fil des morceaux.

Knosis then took over Backstage By The Mill with a level of violence and intensity that made the show feel like a full-blown hardcore gig. Led by former Crystal Lake vocalist Ryo Kinoshita, the band never once tried to slow things down. Ryo screamed himself hoarse into the mic, repeatedly launched himself onto the barricade, and turned the pit into nonstop mayhem. Breakdown after breakdown hit the crowd while the room kept getting tighter, louder, and more chaotic. Somewhere between pure rage and completely unhinged stage presence, Knosis delivered one of the most cathartic sets of the night and proved that the project already has a seriously powerful live identity.

Knosis prend ensuite possession du Backstage avec une violence et une énergie qui rapprochent le concert d’un véritable show hardcore. Mené par Ryo Kinoshita, ancien chanteur de Crystal Lake, le groupe ne cherche jamais à calmer le jeu. Ryo hurle dans son micro, saute à plusieurs reprises sur le premier rang et transforme la fosse en chaos permanent. Les breakdowns s’enchaînent pendant que la salle devient de plus en plus compacte et mouvementée. Entre rage pure et présence scénique incontrôlable, Knosis livre l’un des moments les plus défoulants de la soirée et prouve que le projet possède déjà une identité extrêmement forte en live.

Paledusk finally hit the stage to the screams of a crowd that was just as diverse as it was fired up. On one side were the metalcore fans ready to open up a pit at every breakdown. On the other were die-hard fans singing every single lyric back to the band, turning parts of the set into something closer to a full-on J-rock show.

That contrast fits the Japanese band perfectly. Between Kaito’s mix of rapped and sung vocals and Daidai’s completely chaotic energy on stage, it was hard to know where to look because something was happening at all times. The band ripped through song after song with insane intensity and a rare ability to blend chaos, melody, and experimentation without ever losing momentum. Backed by a crowd that was fully on their side from start to finish, Paledusk proved in Paris exactly why they’ve become one of the most exciting and unpredictable bands in the new wave of modern metalcore. With a lineup that felt both perfectly curated and absolutely explosive, this Paris date ended up being a perfect showcase of just how diverse today’s alternative scene has become.

Paledusk arrive enfin sous les cris d’un public aussi varié qu’excité. D’un côté, les amateurs de metalcore prêts à ouvrir un pit à chaque breakdown. De l’autre, des fans connaissant chaque parole par cœur, transformant certains passages en véritable concert de J-rock.

Cette dualité colle parfaitement à l’univers du groupe japonais. Entre les parties rappées et chantées de Kaito et l’énergie incontrôlable de Daidai sur scène, il devient difficile de savoir où regarder tant il se passe quelque chose en permanence. Le groupe enchaîne les morceaux avec une intensité impressionnante et une capacité rare à mélanger chaos, mélodies et expérimentation. Porté par une salle totalement acquise à sa cause, Paledusk confirme à Paris pourquoi il est devenu l’un des groupes les plus fascinants de cette nouvelle scène metalcore. Avec une programmation aussi cohérente qu’explosive, cette date parisienne aura parfaitement illustré la diversité de la scène alternative actuelle.
