An unexpected kind of show for a sunny afternoon, but super chill, and honestly, what better way to kick off the day than with a bit of stoner groove?

The Australians blew me away with their sheer virtuosity. Blending violin, clean vocals, and crushing growls, the band delivered long, complex tracks that pierced straight through me. Both the sound and the stage presence made this an intense, almost theatrical experience. (Definitely one of my personal highlights of the festival.)

Hitting the stage right after Mogwai at 11:15 PM, I Prevail instantly set the pit on fire. Huge sing-along choruses, crushing breakdowns, and a spectacular stage production with blazing pyrotechnics. Pure communion moments all around — circle pits, crowd surfing, every visual weapon in the metal arsenal cranked to the max… until you had to drop your camera just to scream the lyrics yourself. Absolutely unforgettable.

I Prevail

I Prevail est arrivé juste après Mogwai, à 23h15, et a immédiatement électrisé la fosse.  Refrains entonnés en chœur, breakdowns intenses, et surtout une mise en scène spectaculaire avec de la pyrotechnie flamboyante. Moments de communion pure : circle pits, slams, tous les instruments visuels de la scène métal branchés à fond… jusqu’à ce que tu lâches l’appareil pour hurler les paroles à ton tour. Franchement mémorable.

Later in the night, it was Samael’s turn to take over. The band delivered a dark, powerful show, living up to their reputation with crushing riffs and a uniquely intense atmosphere. No photos this time, I was right there in the middle of the crowd, soaking it all in. And honestly, the vibe was incredible: the audience was completely pulled into their world, and the end of the night carried a rare, almost magnetic intensity.

Plus tard dans la soirée, c’était au tour de Samael. Le groupe a offert un show sombre et puissant, fidèle à sa réputation, avec des riffs lourds et une atmosphère bien particulière. Désolée, je n’ai pas de photos à vous proposer cette fois, mais j’étais bien là, au cœur de la foule, pour profiter du concert. Et franchement, l’ambiance valait le détour : le public s’est laissé happer par leur univers et la fin de soirée avait une intensité unique.

A strange and unsettling vibe surrounded the New York trio. Golden masks and dissonant soundscapes plunged the stage into a dark, urban, and suffocating atmosphere. A radically different experience, one that left a mark on everyone and wrapped the Massey Ferguscene tent in complete darkness.

I can’t skip mentioning Paleface Swiss, who absolutely set the festival on fire. The energy was off the charts, nonstop mosh pits, crowd surfing, and relentless intensity from start to finish. The vocalist gave it everything, screaming every word with insane power and total sincerity. No photos this time, but trust me, I was right there — and honestly, I still feel like I’m in that pit.

Impossible de ne pas mentionner Paleface Swiss, qui a mis le feu au festival. L’ambiance était survoltée : pogo, slams et une intensité constante du début à la fin. Le chanteur s’est donné corps et âme, hurlant chaque mot avec une énergie impressionnante et une sincérité totale. Désolée, je n’ai pas de photos à vous proposer pour ce concert, mais j’étais bien là et j’ai d’ailleurs encore l’impression d’y être…

Les Japonais ont bouleversé la foule. Leur post-hardcore à fleur de peau, alternant douceur et explosions de rage, a transmis une intensité émotionnelle rare. Un moment fort du festival, qui m’a marquée par les gestuelles du chanteur tel un compteur et chef d’orchestre.

Ensiferum’s set will no doubt go down as one of the most memorable moments of this year’s edition. Victims of a brutal logistical mishap, all their gear, costumes, and instruments lost by a certain French airline that shall remain unnamed, the Finns still took the stage. No warrior outfits, no battle armor, but their determination was unshaken.

This unexpected setback gave their performance a rare sense of authenticity. The crowd, already won over, gave them massive support, turning this challenge into a moment of pure communion.

Under the bright Breton sun, the atmosphere was electric: circle pits, endless crowd surfers… even stripped of their usual costumes and instruments, Ensiferum proved that the band’s real power lies in their raw energy and deep connection with the audience.

A truly unique performance.

Le concert d’Ensiferum restera sans doute l’un des moments les plus marquants cette édition. Victimes d’un contretemps logistique : toutes leurs affaires, costumes et instruments perdus par une certaine compagnie aérienne française dont on ne prononcera pas le nom. Les Finlandais sont montés sur scène. Pas de costumes guerriers, pas d’armure scénique, mais une détermination intacte.

Cette mésaventure a donné une authenticité rare à leur performance. Le public, déjà conquis, leur a offert un soutien immense, transformant cette mésaventure en un moment de communion totale.

Sous un beau soleil breton, l’ambiance était électrique : circle pits, slammers par dizaines .. Privés de leurs costumes et instruments habituels, Ensiferum a prouvé que la véritable force du groupe résidait dans son énergie brute et sa complicité avec la foule.
