Stepping into Lyon’s iconic Halle Tony Garnier on Thursday, February 4th, I never imagined I’d be greeted by Christina Aguilera or Bonnie Tyler before the hottest name in deathcore, Lorna Shore, stormed the stage.

Ce jeudi 4 février quand je suis entrée dans la mythique salle de Lyon, la Halle Tony Garnier, je ne m’attendais pas à entendre du Christina Aguilera ou encore du Bonnie Tyler en attendant de voir débarquer le groupe de deathcore du moment,  j’ai nommé Lorna Shore.

The mood shifted instantly when Will Ramos and his crew stormed the stage, kicking things off with one of their latest heavy hitters, “Oblivion”, followed by “Unbreakable,” standout tracks from their newest album I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me. Since bringing in their new frontman in 2021, the band hasn’t slowed down for a second, steadily climbing to the top of the deathcore scene, a rise that’s been especially clear since their 2023 stop in Lyon. Going from the intimate setting of Le Transbordeur to the massive Halle Tony Garnier in just two years says it all.

I’d seen the clips online and knew Will Ramos was capable of inhuman sounds, but hearing it live was on a whole different level. The band’s energy is absolutely relentless, yet they still manage to stay connected to the crowd between songs, seamlessly switching between pit-destroyers like “War Machine” and more symphonic, atmospheric tracks such as “Glenwood.” Even their photographer, Nick Chance, got in on the action by showing off his vocal chops during “Sun//Eater”, a cool moment that perfectly captured the tight-knit chemistry of the whole crew.

L’ambiance a très vite changé quand Will Ramos et sa bande ont pris d’assaut la scène avec l’une de leurs dernières pépites “Oblivion” suivi de “Unbreakable”, titres phares de leur dernier album I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me. Il faut dire que depuis le recrutement de leur nouveau chanteur en 2021, le groupe n’a cessé son ascension au top de la scène musicale du deathcore depuis leur passage à Lyon en 2023. Passer de l’intimité de la salle du Transbordeur à l’immensité de la Halle Tony Garnier en deux ans en est bien la preuve.

Je savais via les réseaux sociaux que Will Ramos était capable de sons inhumains mais le vivre en vrai c’était autre chose. Le groupe a une énergie incroyable mais reste tout de même proche de son public entre deux morceaux et alterne aussi bien des morceaux capables de déclencher des mosh pits comme “War Machine” mais aussi des morceaux un peu plus symphoniques comme “Glenwood”. Leur photographe Nick Chance nous a même montré ses performances vocales sur “Sun//Eater”, petit moment sympa qui montre la cohésion de leur équipe.

The show is just as impressive visually, fully bringing the album’s universe to life. Drummer Austin Archey towers above the stage, framed by a massive moon backdrop, creating an almost weightless, floating effect, a striking contrast between its poetic symbolism and the sheer force of the drums.

Just when the band announces the next song as the last, they surprise the crowd by closing the night with the full “Pain Remains” trilogy. As the audience spills out into the night, eyes still wide with awe, it’s clear the band pulled off something special in Lyon.

C’est aussi visuellement que le show impressionne dévoilant l’univers de l’album. Le batteur Austin Archey en hauteur sur scène devant cette lune géante. Cette impression de lévitation, contraste entre la symbolique poétique de celle-ci et la puissance de la batterie.

Alors que le groupe annonce que la prochaine chanson est la dernière, c’est finalement la trilogie “Pain Remains” qui clôturera ce concert à Lyon. Les regards pleins d’étoiles dans les yeux du public à la sortie sera la preuve que le groupe a réussi son coup.

More than just a concert, Lorna Shore delivered a true sensory experience in Lyon, balancing raw brutality with pure emotion. Walking out of the Halle Tony Garnier, one thing is certain: the band has entered a whole new league, without ever losing its soul or the genuine connection it shares with its audience. It’s a meteoric rise that shows no signs of slowing down, and a show that will be remembered as one of those rare moments when music goes beyond sound and becomes a lasting memory. Lorna Shore may have been highly anticipated, now, they’re undeniably essential.

Bien plus qu’un simple concert, Lorna Shore a livré à Lyon une véritable expérience sensorielle, à la croisée de la violence brute et de l’émotion pure. En quittant la Halle Tony Garnier, une chose est sûre : le groupe a définitivement changé d’échelle, sans jamais perdre son âme ni ce lien sincère avec son public. Une ascension fulgurante qui semble loin d’être terminée, et un concert qui restera gravé comme l’un de ces moments où la musique dépasse le son pour devenir un souvenir marquant. Si Lorna Shore était attendu, il est désormais confirmé comme incontournable.
