LA COKA NOSTRA AT PETIT BAIN: PARIS THREW ITS FISTS UP! EN/FR

EN
On September 11, Petit Bain traded its usual peace and quiet on the Seine for something a whole lot rowdier. Tonight, nobody’s here to stand around sipping a beer and casually nodding along. La Coka Nostra is in Paris, and judging by how fired up the crowd already is, everyone’s ready to raise some serious hell!

FR

But before bringing out the big guns, French crew Droogz Brigade takes over the joint. And as far as warm-ups go, these guys sure as hell aren’t holding back. They waste no time setting Petit Bain on fire, doing exactly what they came to do: getting the crowd fired up before La Coka Nostra hits the stage. This opening act isn’t just here to make up the numbers. They mean business, and by the time they’re done, the crowd is already going wild. Needless to say, when the main event rolls around, the stage is set and Paris is ready for some serious shit!

FR

Things kick off with “Brujeria”, before “Fuck Tony Montana” gets everybody on the same page. And just like that, all hell breaks loose. Hands shoot straight up, the pit comes alive, and Petit Bain officially turns into one big beautiful mess. When “I’m an American” drops, the orders are clear: “Put your hands up!” No need to say it twice. Paris knows the drill. “Peace Sells” gets the whole room moving and grooving before “Gangsta Rap” turns the show into a full-blown back-and-forth between the crew and the crowd. “Paris, are you with us? Are you ready for more?” Judging by the deafening roar coming back at them, that’s a hell yes!

La Coka Nostra keeps pushing buttons, hyping everyone up, getting the whole room to sing along, and feeding off every reaction before throwing that energy right back at us. At this point, nobody’s just standing around watching the show. We’re all in on the heist. Their cover of Special Teamz’s “Get Ready” hits, and there are big-ass grins on every single face in the room. People are rapping, yelling, throwing their hands up, and having the time of their lives. Then the opening notes of “It’s a Beautiful Thing” kick in, and the pit goes absolutely nuts. We even get a little “Comment ça va?” in French before the entire room starts chanting: “La Coka Nostra is a beautiful thing!” You damn right!

“Cult Leader” kicks off a cappella, proving these guys don’t need any fancy tricks to command a crowd. Naturally, they get everyone singing along once again. When “A World With No Skies” rolls around, it’s time to switch things up: Paris throws its fists in the air. “Sing with me!” Say no more! The whole room joins in before “Who’s the Man” comes crashing in and sends whatever self-control we had left straight out the window. Everybody loses their damn minds as chants of “Who’s the man?” echo through the venue. Then the crew drops a massive “Hip-hop is still alive, Paris!” And judging by what’s going down in Petit Bain tonight, they sure as hell don’t need to prove it.

Their cover of House of Pain’s “Shamrocks and Shenanigans” isn’t about to calm anybody down. Everybody’s jumping. And we mean EVERYBODY. “Mind Your Business” keeps Petit Bain running at full throttle, and all it takes is one “Drop that shit one time!” to send the pit into another frenzy. People are dancing, screaming, and going completely off the rails. With “99 Bottles”, though, the crew takes a moment to look back on their career and thank everyone who’s been riding with them all these years. A brief breather in the middle of all the madness, and a reminder of just how far they’ve come and how loyal their fans still are. And judging by tonight’s crowd, these people ain’t going anywhere!

FR
Sur « I’m an American », le mot d’ordre tombe : « Put your hands up! « Paris, are you with us? Are you ready for more?

« Sing with me! » Fallait pas nous le dire deux fois. Le morceau est repris par la salle avant que « Who’s the Man » ne vienne faire sauter les derniers verrous. Là, on perd collectivement toute dignité. La salle devient complètement folle tandis que les « Who’s the man?

« Mind Your Business » maintient Petit Bain en surchauffe et un « Drop that shit one time!

But there’s no time to get all sentimental either. “The Anatomy of a School Shooting” kicks things right back into gear with a “Hands up and make some noise!” and the crowd is more than happy to oblige. During “Say I Was Slain,” the guys take a moment to introduce each other, every name met with loud cheers from the crowd. Dany even pulls out his phone mid-song to film the room. Tonight, the memories are being captured from both sides of the stage.

Then the sound of helicopter blades starts cutting through the room, signaling “Black Helicopters.” And yeah, this sure as hell ain’t a neighborhood watch meeting. Middle fingers go up all across Petit Bain as the crew yells, “Say fuck you!” The whole place fires back with a massive “FUCK YOU!” Again. And again. Then comes the inevitable “Get the fuck up!”, throwing even more fuel on a fire that never really died down in the first place.

As “That’s Coke” rolls around, they hit us with the question: “Do you want one more?” Seriously? Like you even gotta ask. The crew launches into “When I say yay, you say yay!”, arms start swinging from side to side all over again, and the crowd answers without missing a beat. By the end of the track, the entire room is screaming “LET’S GO!” And apparently, La Coka Nostra has decided that whatever tiny bit of energy we still have left needs to be drained too.

Then the opening notes of “Jump Around” hit.

Bad news for our knees. Fucking great news for everything else. Absolute mayhem. The whole damn room starts jumping, the pit blows up, and suddenly Petit Bain feels way too small to contain this beautiful mess.

FR
« The Anatomy of a School Shooting » repart avec un « Hands up and make some noise!

». Petit Bain répond « Fuck you! », encore et encore, avant qu’un « Get the fuck up!

« That’s Coke » approche et la question tombe : « Do you want one more? » Quelle question. Le groupe lance son « When I say yay, you say yay!

At this point, Petit Bain looks like somebody threw the whole damn venue into a blender and hit full speed for ninety minutes straight. People are yelling, jumping, throwing up fists, hands, and middle fingers, while La Coka Nostra spends the entire set fueling the chaos instead of even trying to keep it under control. Not that the crowd wants it any other way. Paris answers every single call, and somewhere along the way, that line between the stage and the pit pretty much disappears altogether. And damn, does it feel good.

Most importantly, there’s absolutely no nostalgia-tour bullshit going on here. La Coka Nostra can look back on their career, thank the people who’ve been riding with them for years, and pull out tracks half the room knows by heart without ever making it feel like some guided tour through the hip-hop museum. Tonight feels alive, loud, messy as hell, and incredibly united.

They yelled it themselves: “Hip-hop is still alive, Paris!”

Yeah. We fucking noticed.

And after a “Jump Around” like that, so did our knees.

FR

Ils l’ont gueulé : « Hip-hop is still alive, Paris! »

Ouais. On avait remarqué.
