HEXIS + Violence DK: Two Ways to Turn Up the Tension at Glazart EN/FR
EN
On October 4, Glazart played host to an all-Danish night featuring Violence dk and HEXIS. Two bands with radically different energies, brought together by the same underlying darkness. On one side, something cold, dark, and unsettling. On the other, a far more brutal onslaught.

Violence — Contrast as a Weapon
There’s something genuinely disorienting about Violence from the very first few minutes. Musically, the band operates in a dark, cold, melancholic world, somewhere between post-punk, cold wave, and goth. At times, there’s an almost next-gen The Cure feel to it, without ever sounding like a straight-up imitation.
And right in the middle of it all is the vocalist.
His energy is almost over the top. He’s intensely physical and in-your-face, with a stage presence that borrows heavily from hardcore. At first, the contrast with the music feels a little strange: while the songs create a much colder, more haunting atmosphere, he seems physically incapable of standing still. But that disconnect ultimately gives their live performance a personality all its own.
Another thing that works particularly well is the interplay between the two vocals. Whenever they come together, Violence immediately gains another dimension. The coldness of the music opens up into something bigger, almost hypnotic, and those are probably the moments when the band’s whole vision hits the hardest. An unusual opening act that’s hard to pin down to any one genre, as intriguing for its sound as it is for the strange energy it brings to the stage.

HEXIS — The Onslaught
With HEXIS, the atmosphere shifts completely. There’s no room for restraint here: it’s all about impact. And it’s exactly the kind of show I was hoping for.
Onstage, every member seems driven by the same insane amount of energy. Their blend of hardcore, black metal, sludge, and post-metal takes on an intensely physical dimension live. It’s heavy, oppressive, brutal, but above all, incredibly alive.
And obviously, that energy doesn’t stay onstage. The crowd at Glazart matches the band’s intensity, with constant movement in the pit mirroring everything happening in front of us. HEXIS barely gives anyone a chance to catch their breath: the energy spreads throughout the entire room, giving the set an almost chaotic edge that suits them perfectly. It’s hard to say much more without overanalyzing something that works primarily on instinct: I had an amazing time.
HEXIS live is everything I love about extreme music: insane energy, a brutality you can immediately feel, and a band giving absolutely everything they’ve got onstage.

A night that may not take much space on paper, but certainly didn’t hold back on intensity.
