On October 12th, La Boule Noire welcomed Ashen for their first headline in Paris. For this special night, they were accompanied by the emerging band, Neant.

Le 12 octobre dernier, La Boule Noire a accueilli Ashen pour leur première date en tête d’affiche à Paris. Pour cette nuit très spéciale, ils étaient accompagnés du groupe émergeant, Neant.

Neant, a fresh addition to the French music scene, opened the night. Although their stage presence was more reserved, which is understandable given it was only their third show, their performance was marked by impressive sound quality and standout vocals. Their skill and polish left me intrigued to hear their studio recordings. It was clear they gained new fans that night, offering a strong introduction to their music while setting the perfect tone for Ashen‘s performance.

Neant, un tout nouveau groupe sur la scène française, a ouvert la soirée. Malgré une présence scénique assez réservée, ce qui est compréhensif sachant qu’il s’agit seulement de leur troisième concert, leur performance a été marquante par la qualité sonore plaisante et des vocaux impressionnants. Leur maitrise m’a donné envie de jeter un oeil à leur version studio, ce que je vais faire au plus vite. Il est clair qu’ils ont gagné de nouveaux fans avec ce set en nous donnant une bonne introduction à leur musique tout en préparant la scène parfaitement pour la performance d’Ashen.

Ashen’s much-anticipated first headline show in Paris did not disappoint. It was sold-out and the crowd was more than ready.

We’re starting strong when the room plunged into darkness as the intro set an intense tone. Then, Tristan, Niels, Thibaud, Antoine, and Clem stormed the stage, kicking off their set with “Chimera“. From the first note, the energy in the room skyrocketed. We were locked into their performance. By the second song, “Sapiens“, the crowd was already wild, launching into their first wall of death of the night.

Ashen had some surprises up their sleeve for this special night. One of the highlights was an unreleased track, “Crystal Tears“, that they performed for us. It’s heavy, and without spoiling too much, it’s definitely one to look out for when it drops.

Cette première tête d’affiche à Paris pour Ashen ne nous a pas déçu. Elle était à guichet fermé et le public était plus que prêt.

On commence fort lorsque la salle est plongée dans le noir alors qu’une intro vocale installe un ton dramatique pour ce début de set. Puis Tristan, Niels, Thibaud, Antoine, et Clem déboulent sur scène en commençant par “Chimera“. Dès la première note, l’énergie dans la salle est propulsée. A la deuxième chanson, “Sapiens“, la foule est déjà en effervescence, et le premier wall of death de la soirée est lancée.

Ashen nous a réservé quelques surprises pour l’occasion. Un des moments forts a été un morceau inédit, “Crystal Tears“, qu’ils nous ont joué. C’est lourd, et sans trop en dire, c’est clairement un titre à surveiller quand il sortira.

The pace shifted with an acoustic performance of “Outlier“, giving the crowd an intimate moment with Clem and Niels playing, and the audience joining in singing. It was beautiful, almost like a breather, but the break didn’t last long.

Everyone got a second to catch their breath before the band brought the energy back up with their cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit“, where the entire crowd was on their feet, jumping in unison.

Throughout the show, the screen behind the band displayed lyrics, making it easy for everyone to sing along, whether they were die-hard fans or new listeners.

Le rythme a changé avec une version acoustique de “Outlier“, accordant au public un moment intime avec Clem et Niels sur scène, accompagnés de la foule au chant. C’était magnifique, presque comme une bouffée d’air frais, mais la pause n’a pas duré longtemps.

Tout le monde a eu une seconde pour reprendre son souffle avant que le groupe ne ravive l’énergie avec leur reprise de “Smells Like Teen Spirit“, où toute la salle était debout, sautant à l’unisson.

Tout au long du concert, l’écran derrière le groupe affichait les paroles, ce qui a permis tout autant les fans inconditionnels que les nouveaux venus.

The night also featured an impressive drum solo from Tristan, at the end of “Sacrifice“. It was followed “Nowhere” with its memorable chorus and a fan-favorite “Angel“, with the classic sit down (you know when everybody crouches and on 3 everybody gets up and jumps) moment getting the crowd even more hyped.

Ashen closed the night in Paris with an encore performance of “Outlier“, this time in its full form. The audience sang along with everything they had left, making this first Parisian headline show an unforgettable experience.

It’s clear that this band is on the rise, and everyone in that room felt lucky to witness it.

La soirée a également été marquée par un impressionnant solo de batterie de Tristan à la fin de “Sacrifice“. A suivi “Nowhere“ avec son refrain mémorable et du favori des fans “Angel“, avec le classique “sit down” (vous savez, quand tout le monde s’accroupit et, à 3, tout le monde se relève et saute), un moment qui a encore plus excité le public.

Ashen a clôturé la soirée parisienne avec un rappel de “Outlier“, cette fois dans sa version complète. Le public a chanté de toutes ses forces, rendant ce premier concert en tête d’affiche à Paris inoubliable.

Il est évident que ce groupe est en pleine ascension, et tout le monde dans la salle s’est senti chanceux d’en être témoin.
