There are gigs you count down the days for, and the one on February 12, 2025, at Trabendo was definitely one of them. A night of pure British energy, with two bands setting the venue on fire in their own way. Between an exciting discovery and an established act, we knew we were in for a great night, but we had no idea just how epic it would be.

Il y a des concerts qu’on attend avec impatience, et celui du 12 février 2025 au Trabendo en faisait clairement partie. Une soirée 100% britannique avec deux groupes qui ont enflammé la salle chacun à leur manière. Entre découverte prometteuse et valeur sûre, on savait qu’on allait passer un bon moment, mais on n’imaginait pas à quel point.

We kicked things off strong with Corella, a quartet from Manchester, who burst onto the stage with infectious energy. From the very first notes of Drifting, the crowd started moving, heads nodding in sync, and the Brits in the audience singing their hearts out. The atmosphere? Chill and full of good vibes.

Then came Bloom, their standout track, and the energy in the room shot up another level. The crowd wasn’t just bouncing anymore, they were properly jumping. UK rock doing what it does best, impossible to resist. The singer and guitarist, clearly on fire, climbed onto a crate at the side of the stage for Come Around. From up high, he commanded the room, locking eyes with the crowd and delivering a killer performance. And for the grand finale with Barcelona Girl, it was pure chaos, in the best way. He jumped into the audience, leaving his bandmates holding it down on stage. A circle opened up around him, and everyone was jumping, giving their all for this final chorus. A first act that did exactly what it was meant to do: warm up the room to perfection.

On commence fort avec Corella, quatuor de Manchester, qui débarque sur scène avec une énergie communicative. Dès les premières notes de Drifting, la fosse s’anime, les têtes bougent en rythme, et les Anglais présents dans la salle chantent à pleins poumons. Ambiance chill et good vibes garanties.

Puis arrive Bloom, leur titre phare, et l’ambiance grimpe d’un cran. La foule ne fait plus que sautiller, elle bondit carrément. Le rock made in UK fait son effet, impossible de résister. Le chanteur et guitariste, visiblement survolté, grimpe sur une caisse sur le côté de la scène pour Come Around. Il surplombe la fosse, le regard complice, et livre une performance captivante. Pour le final avec Barcelona Girl, c’est carrément l’apothéose : il descend dans la foule, laissant ses potes assurer sur scène. Un cercle s’ouvre autour de lui et tout le monde saute dans un dernier élan d’exaltation. Une première partie qui fait son taf : échauffer la salle comme il se doit.

But the real treat of the night? Circa Waves, of course. The Liverpool lads hit the stage, ready to pull us into their rock universe, and they did not disappoint. From the first chords, you could tell this night was going to be something special, intense, but laid-back at the same time. With a setlist packed with over 17 songs, plus a three-track encore, they were here to give us everything they had.

They came to showcase Death & Love, Pt. 1, their new album, and let’s just say they haven’t lost an ounce of their energy. More than a decade since their debut, Circa Waves continues to evolve while staying true to their post-punk DNA. Trabendo, small in size but massive in atmosphere, turned into an intimate rock haven. Every track was met with enthusiasm, the crowd singing in unison and swaying to the rhythm of the guitars.

The classics kept coming: T-Shirt Weather sparked a collective euphoria, Movies had everyone screaming like their lives depended on it, and the new tracks blended seamlessly into the set. The connection between the band and the crowd was electric, and frontman Kieran Shudall’s charisma only amplified the magic.

The encore wrapped things up in spectacular fashion. Three final songs, one last whirlwind of emotions, and a closing moment that left everyone exhausted but grinning from ear to ear. A Circa Waves gig is a proper rush, a breath of fresh air, and a deep dive into feel-good rock.

Mais le plat de résistance, c’est bien sûr Circa Waves. Les gars de Liverpool arrivent pour nous plonger dans leur univers rock, et ils ne vont pas nous décevoir. Dès les premiers accords, on sent que la soirée va être intense mais posée. Avec une setlist de plus de 17 morceaux, et un rappel de 3 titres, ils sont là pour nous en mettre plein la vue.

Ils viennent défendre Death & Love, Pt. 1, leur nouvel album, et autant dire qu’ils n’ont rien perdu de leur fougue. Plus d’une décennie après leurs débuts, Circa Waves continue d’évoluer, tout en restant fidèle à son ADN post-punk. Le Trabendo, petite salle mais grosse ambiance, se transforme en un véritable cocon musical. Chaque morceau est reçu avec enthousiasme, la foule chante à l’unisson et vibre au rythme des guitares.

Les classiques s’enchaînent : T-Shirt Weather déclenche une euphorie collective, Movies nous fait tous hurler comme si notre vie en dépendait, et les nouvelles compos s’intègrent parfaitement à la fête. La connexion entre le groupe et son public est totale, et le charisme du frontman Kieran Shudall n’y est pas étranger.

Le rappel vient clore la soirée en apothéose. Trois derniers morceaux, un dernier tourbillon d’émotion, et un final qui laisse tout le monde sur les rotules mais avec un sourire plaqué sur le visage. Circa Waves en live, c’est une claque, une bouffée d’air frais, une immersion totale dans un rock feel-good.

Walking out of Trabendo, it was impossible not to still be buzzing from the night. Corella made a lasting impression, and Circa Waves proved once again why they’re one of the best British rock bands of their generation. A flawless night from start to finish, leaving us with just one thought: when can we do this all over again? Cheers, and see you next time!

En sortant du Trabendo, difficile de ne pas être encore sous l’effet de cette soirée. Corella a marqué les esprits et Circa Waves a prouvé, une fois encore, qu’ils faisaient partie des meilleurs groupes rock anglais de leur génération.
