The crowd is restless. Fifteen minutes late, and the anticipation is through the roof. The wait feels endless, but the second the lights go out, excitement erupts. Drummer James Lazenby is the first to appear, greeted by a wave of cheers. Then, one by one, the rest of the band takes the stage, Matthew Flood on vocals, Benjamin Wilson on lead guitar, Craig Robinson on rhythm guitar, and Christopher McIntosh on bass. From the first chords of “Guiding Light”, the place ignites. More than just singing, the crowd pours their hearts out, screaming every lyric like it’s gospel. When Matthew throws out a quick, “Ça va, Paris?” just before the final chorus, the response is a deafening roar.

Wasting no time, they dive straight into “Hate Me”. “Bonjour Paris! We’re Caskets, we’re from England, and we wanna thank every single one of you for coming out tonight!!!” The energy spikes even higher. Matthew lets the crowd take the lead, and they don’t hesitate for a second. The band feeds off the room, smiles plastered across their faces. They are soaking it all in, and it shows.

As “More Than Misery” kicks in, Matthew can’t help but call it out: “Guys, you are LOUD! Sing with me, OK?!”

Hands shoot up, the pit erupts, and the chorus shakes the venue. Then comes “Hold Me Now”, and it’s a goosebump moment. After every song, the venue erupts in cheers, hands forming hearts in the air, the connection between the band and crowd undeniable. Phones light up like stars, capturing the magic. Even I, trying to keep it cool, find myself swaying like a 37-year-old teenager.

The rhythm of applause turns into a chant, and Matthew fuels the moment: “We’re here to have a great time! So let’s see you JUMP!” Next up, “Drowned in Emotion.” Matthew hypes the crowd like a pro: “This next song is called… Let me fuckin’ see, Paris, ARE YOU READY???”

Puis, le public applaudit en rythme, et Matthew lance : “On est là pour passer un bon moment!” avant d’inviter tout le monde à jumper.

“Drowned in Emotion” suit, et le chanteur harangue la foule : “This next song is called… Let me fuckin’ see, Paris, are you ready???” La fosse n’a pas besoin de plus pour se déchaîner.

And the floor literally shakes under the weight of hundreds of bodies bouncing in unison. Then, “Silhouettes” drops, and the crowd completely loses it. The moment those opening notes hit, a wave of screams takes over. Faces light up with raw emotion, and Matthew, ever the frontman, locks eyes with the crowd, feeding off every movement, pushing the connection to its peak.

With “By the Sound,” he rallies the troops: “JUMP!!” No hesitation, the entire crowd moves as one, clapping in perfect rhythm.

Before launching into “Signs”, Matthew takes a pause: “We haven’t been here since… is this our second time in Paris?”

A moment of reflection, then he lets the crowd take over, stepping back as they sing entire sections on their own. Pure magic.

“Lost in Echoes” kicks in, and suddenly, a sea of phones is raised once again. The entire room sings in unison, the energy at its absolute peak. The song hits like an emotional wrecking ball, blending chaos and melody into perfection. The second-to-last track, “Glass Heart,, blows the roof off the place.“This is the one you’ve been waiting for!” And the crowd proves it, screaming every word. The sheer volume of voices fills the entire room, and Matthew grins: “What a beautiful night, Paris! Thank you so much!”

Finally, the night comes to a close with “Better Way Out.” “Paris, merci!”

Matthew’s French may be simple, but his sincerity is crystal clear. He’s visibly moved by the reception, soaking in the last moments before sending the night off with a final: “Thank you so much, see you soon!”
