NDKH – A Perfect Opening Set

Right before As They Burn hit the stage, NDKH delivered a truly perfect opening set. The energy was there from start to finish, a generous, sincere band that gave it everything they had and held nothing back. The room was already heated up, the pit was super responsive, and you could tell the crowd was having a great time, myself included.

It was a solid, intense set that set the tone perfectly for the rest of the night. Not just an opening act, but a real moment, with contagious energy and a stage presence that left a mark on the whole room.

NDKH – Un set d’ouverture parfait

Juste avant As They Burn, NDKH a offert un set d’ouverture tout simplement parfait. Une belle énergie du début à la fin, un groupe généreux, sincère, qui donne tout sans retenue. La salle était déjà bien chaude, la fosse très réactive, et on sentait que le public prenait beaucoup de plaisir, moi compris.

Un set solide, intense, qui a parfaitement préparé le terrain pour la suite de la soirée. Pas juste une première partie : un vrai moment, avec une énergie communicative et une présence qui a marqué la salle.

The Wait and the Pressure Building

Before the band even stepped on stage, the atmosphere already felt strange, almost deceptive. Latin music was playing in the venue, like the calm before the storm. On stage, two massive red neon As They Burn logos were projected onto two different walls of amps. Two blocks, two walls, like two red beacons glowing in the dark. The boat was packed, the air felt heavy, and you could feel the pressure building.

Then the lights dropped. The crowd started screaming. The band walked on stage. And with no warning: instant moshpit.

A Setlist Built for War

The first song, Hiram, triggered the pit instantly. No warm-up, no slow build, the violence started right away. Zek was wearing a Latino Run Hardcore T-shirt, a perfect callback to the Latin music that had been playing before the show. On Frozen Vision, Zek already had complete control over the crowd. He called people out, told them to move, told them to split the pit in half, and of course, the crowd did exactly that. Philosophical Research Society confirmed that the room was completely locked in. Zek shouted:

“We were here yesterday, we’re here today, and we’ll be here tomorrow!”

And the pit exploded again, even harder. Then came Trauma. An unbelievable moment, the boat was literally rocking from the energy of the pit. People were moshing hard, but with smiles on their faces. A kind of joyful, collective violence. During Medicine 2.0, Zek yelled:

“Make some noise for NDKH!!!”

The crowd went wild. The atmosphere started to feel almost unreal, the boat was moving so much you could almost get seasick.

L’attente et la montée en pression

Avant même que le groupe ne monte sur scène, l’ambiance est déjà étrange, presque trompeuse : une musique latino tourne dans la salle, comme un faux calme avant la tempête. Sur scène, deux énormes logos rouges néon d’As They Burn sont projetés, chacun sur un mur d’amplis différent. Deux blocs, deux murs, deux phares rouges dans la pénombre. La péniche est pleine, l’air est lourd, la pression monte.

Puis les lumières tombent. Le public hurle. Le groupe monte sur scène. Et sans transition : moshpit immédiat.

Une setlist taillée pour la guerre

Le premier titre, Hiram, déclenche instantanément la fosse. Pas d’échauffement, pas de montée progressive : la violence commence tout de suite. Zek porte un t-shirt Latino Run Hardcore, clin d’œil parfait à la musique d’attente qui tournait avant le concert. Sur Frozen Vision, Zek prend déjà le contrôle total du public. Il invective la foule, demande de bouger, de séparer la fosse en deux. Évidemment, le public obéit immédiatement. Philosophical Research Society confirme que la salle est complètement acquise. Zek lance :

« On était là hier, on est là aujourd’hui, on sera là demain ! »

Et la fosse repart encore plus fort. Puis arrive Trauma. Moment incroyable : la péniche tangue littéralement sous l’énergie de la fosse. Ça moshpit violemment, mais avec le sourire. Une violence joyeuse, collective. Sur Medicine 2.0, Zek crie :

« Faites du bruit pour NDKH !!! »

Le public exulte. L’ambiance devient presque irréelle, la péniche bouge tellement qu’on pourrait avoir le mal de mer.

Zek, Master of Ceremonies

Zek doesn’t just sing, he talks to the crowd constantly. Intros, outros, between songs, he never lets go of the audience. His language is casual, extremely enthusiastic, and there’s a kind of poetry in his aggression. He doesn’t just hype the crowd, he lives the crowd. Before Unable to Connect, he says:

“We’re gonna hurt each other tonight, I want even more energy!”

Then Freaks hits. The energy doesn’t drop, it climbs even higher. Vincent from NDKH joins the band on stage, then Aaron from ten56 jumps in too. The stage turns into a battlefield. On Dialysis: massive circle pit. Then Psychoactive Green Fairy. Long intro, the pressure builds slowly, then everything explodes. First crowd surf of the night. Zek ends up throwing the mic, jumping into the pit, starting the most violent moshpit of the night, then making his way back to the stage crowd surfing. Absolutely insane moment. At the end of the song, he says:

“Paris, it feels good to be home. Tonight, you honored us!”

The Final

One last surprise:
A New Area for Our Plagues, a song from As They Burn’s very first project. And one last time, the pit turns violent and beautiful at the same time. One final explosion of energy before the end.

Zek, maître de cérémonie

Zek ne fait pas que chanter. Il parle au public en permanence. Intro, outro, entre les morceaux,  il ne lâche jamais la foule. Son langage est familier, particulièrement enthousiaste, et il a une forme de poésie dans l’agressivité. Il ne chauffe pas la salle, il vit la salle. Sur Unable to Connect, il annonce :

« On va se faire du mal ensemble ce soir, je veux encore plus d’énergie ! »

Puis arrive Freaks. L’énergie ne redescend pas,  elle s’intensifie encore. Vincent de NDKH rejoint le groupe, puis Aaron de ten56 s’ajoute. La scène devient un champ de bataille. Sur Dialysis : circle pit massif. Puis Psychoactive Green Fairy. Longue intro, la pression monte lentement, puis tout explose. Premier crowdsurf. Zek finit par jeter le micro, foncer dans la fosse, lancer le moshpit le plus violent de la soirée, puis revenir sur scène en crowdsurf. Moment complètement fou. À la fin du morceau, il dit :

« Paris ça fait du bien d’être à la maison, ce soir vous nous avez honoré ! »

Le final

Dernière surprise : A New Area for Our Plagues, un titre issu du tout premier projet d’As They Burn. Et une dernière fois, la fosse devient violente et magnifique à la fois. Une dernière explosion d’énergie avant la fin.

This wasn’t just a show, it was a physical experience. The boat was moving, the pit was roaring, and the band and the crowd were playing together. NDKH warmed up the room in a way no one else could have.

Milton on drums is a machine, precise and destructive. The guitars sound massive. But the real tornado is Zek: a frontman who speaks the way he lives, with a mix of casual language, pure enthusiasm, and an almost poetic kind of aggression. As They Burn at Petit Bain wasn’t just a concert. It was home, family, and war, all at the same time.

Ce concert n’était pas juste un live. C’était une expérience physique. La péniche bougeait, la fosse hurlait, le groupe et le public jouaient ensemble. NDKH ont chauffé la salle comme personne d’autres n’aurait pu le faire.

Milton à la batterie est une machine, précis et destructeur. Les cordes sont incroyables Mais la vraie tornade, c’est Zek : un frontman qui parle comme il vit, avec un mélange de langage familier, d’enthousiasme total et d’agressivité presque poétique. As They Burn à Petit Bain, ce n’était pas seulement un concert. C’était la maison, la famille, et la guerre,  en même temps.
