Dreamlike Moments, Enchanting Evening, Stunning Concert:

Three years after her last visit to the capital, Danish singer Agnès Obel and her band take the stage at the magical Salle Pleyel for three consecutive shows.

The concert kicks off around 9 p.m. in an exceptionally quiet hall, where the audience hangs on every single note. This silence and respect remain a recurring theme throughout the evening, much to the amusement of the artist. Only the endings of songs are met with thunderous applause.

3 ans après son dernier passage dans la capitale, la Danoise Agnès Obel et ses musiciens foulent la magique Salle Pleyel pour trois dates consécutives.

Le concert débute aux alentours de 21 h, dans une salle des plus silencieuses, voulant profiter de la moindre note. Ce silence et ce respect seront un leitmotiv tout au long de la soirée, ce qui amusera d’ailleurs l’artiste. Seules les fins de morceaux ont droit à des tonnerres d’applaudissements.

For just under an hour and a half, the audience is transported into the dreamlike world of the Nordic artist. Her albums Aventine and Citizen of Glass take center stage tonight.

The evening opens with Red Virgin Soil and Dorian. Bathed in soft white light, stripped of any excess, the four musicians deliver a minimalist start, just them and their instruments. Gradually, a visual journey unfolds as well. To enhance the experience, projections play on the screen behind the quartet, waves, stars, or live shots of the musicians interacting with shadows and rippling movements. The result is mesmerizing, amplifying the power of the music.

Tonight also features three new pieces: two entirely unfamiliar to the audience, and one titled Faustian Deal.

Obel engages warmly with the crowd, thanking them throughout the evening, noting that she hasn’t performed live in three years, and expressing how thrilled she is to be here sharing this moment.

For the encore, Agnès Obel returns alone on stage to perform Words Are Dead in a stripped-down piano-and-voice version, before her band rejoins her for the massive hit Riverside. The concert closes with The Curse. As the lights come up, Agnès and her band remain on stage to receive a standing ovation from a captivated audience, taking the time to thank and greet everyone personally.

Pendant un peu moins d’une heure trente, nous allons être transportés dans le monde onirique de la Nordique. Les albums Aventine et Citizen of Glass se voient avoir les honneurs ce soir.

La soirée débute d’ailleurs par les morceaux Red Virgin Soil et Dorian. Dans une lumière blanche tamisée, sans superflu, les quatre musiciens nous proposent un début de set épuré. Juste eux et leurs instruments. Puis petit à petit s’installe un voyage également visuel. En effet, afin d’être un peu plus transportés, des visuels sont projetés sur l’écran derrière le quatuor. Que ce soit des vidéos de vagues, d’étoiles ou les visages des artistes filmés en direct et jouant avec ombres et ondulations, tout est magnifique et accentue la force musicale.

Notons que nous avons le droit à trois nouveaux morceaux ce soir, deux totalement inconnus, et un qui se nomme Faustian Deal.

Obel communique avec son public, le remercie tout au long de la soirée, indique qu’elle n’a pas joué live depuis 3 ans et qu’elle est ravie d’être là, et de partager ce moment avec nous.

Pour le rappel, Agnès Obel revient seule sur scène, interprétant Words Are Dead dans une version piano-voix, avant que ses musiciens la rejoignent pour interpréter son énorme hit Riverside. Le concert se termine sur The Curse. Les lumières se rallument, Agnès et sa bande restent sur scène afin de prendre les applaudissements d’une salle totalement debout et conquise. Mais aussi pour remercier et saluer leur public.
